Lounge access (for Shower) - QF MEL-LAX (arr TBIT), UA LAX-IAH (dep T7)

I am QF WP and *A Gold (both UA Premier Platinum, and Turkish elite Gold).

I am flying through LAX to IAH. Last time I did this, I was flying UA from MEL to LAX (so didn't have to worry about eligibility to get into the UA lounge) I walked straight over to T7, only to discover that there are no showers in the United Lounges. WTF.

Previously I've been QF to AA / US, and so have just used the T4 lounge and showered there.

I gather that my only option for a shower in LAX is to re-enter TBIT, shower there in the QF lounge, then head over to T7.

As far as I can see, because I'm arriving on QF this time, I don't even get access to the UA lounge in T7, because I don't have a international *A segment, there are no other lounges in T7, so my only chance of a shower is TBIT (or, if I wanted to clear security three times, I could use AA / Admirals in T4).

Am I missing something, or am I entering US, then clearing security in TBIT, showering, then exiting through to landside, walk to T7, then clear security and fly?

P.S. no problems doing this - I travel carry on only, happy to walk between terminals, not pushed for time, but just really like having a shower after a 15 flight.

You won't have arrivals access to the oneworld lounge in TBIT or AA in T4 as your next flight isn't a oneworld flight.

TK *G will get you into the UA lounge, the international segment rule is for UA *G members only. But as you know, there aren't any showers in there.

Yep, I suspected that might be the case.

I wonder if I can get into *A in TBIT. No, I can't. Doesn't open in time.

At least the return trip will be OK.

If you have Priority Pass the KAL lounge in TBIT has showers. Also the AC in T4 allows paid entry ($50 I believe) depending on how badly you want a shower

Yes, I have priority pass, but, as far as I can see, the KAL / Skyteam lounge doesn't open until 9am. I've only got three hours - if I wait 90 minutes for *A or KAL to open, I'm then going to be rushing to make my flight.

I think I'll just remain grubby (and plan better next time - AA / US instead of UA for the next leg).

The DL lounge in T5 (accessible airside from T7) has showers & one day passes are available for US$50. Access is for same-day ticketed air travel on any airline. Hours are 5AM - 1AM daily.
