JAL 777-300ER back on Sydney route

The taxes can change almost daily due to exchange rate movement and other factors. Ask them to process this as a voluntary change, with the change fee waived due to the cabin downgrade. This way you will get your points back and your taxes back now rather than after travel.

Confirmed upgrade then IROPs, what to expect.

If it's one ticket, and AA is late, then AA would rebook you in J for the transpacific. However, if everything is full, then you may need to downgrade in order to get home in a reasonable time.

J/F EK Classic Rewards - Reducing Carrier Charges ex Europe?

I can confirm it is possible... but for obvious reasons I'm not going to divulge where / how.

Can QF call centres combine two PNR's into one?

You cannot link QF and another carrier - the system won't even let you.

Can QF call centres combine two PNR's into one?

That's correct. The half award half commercial combinations are implemented with quite a hacky method which is why they are website only. The contact centre systems would require some substantial changes to make it possible. Linking two PNRs where the flights are A->B and B->C does absolutely...

Seat selection after booking through third party

10kg baggage = lite fare 20kg baggage = basic fare Beware that some dodgy agents sell you a student fare where the conditions are they can ask for student ID at check in. It's the student fares that give additional baggage and a number of the Asian carriers do it.

Upgrade pecking order on QF1/2 QF3/4 QF9/10 where the first leg is full but not the second.

If booked as SYD-JFK, no, you cannot upgrade just AKL-JFK. Generally I see straight through upgrades prioritised over sector ones.

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

It's a new distribution channel that will basically eventually replace the traditional GDS. It has a long way to go before it gets to that point though.

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

Amex aren't NDC-enabled for QF which is why there's a number of domestic (and tasman) fares where Amex is more expensive than the QF website. In fact none of the major corporate travel agents here in AU are enabled for NDC for QF. The main fare with a huge fare difference is the I class...

Baggage interline - separate PNRs - QF award flight on AA metal to QF award flight on QF metal

There's a huge difference between trip apps built from the ground up, completely with modern technology, vs systems that use archaic frameworks setup by IATA that were initially built in the late 90s. Granting explicit access for carrier A to access carrier B's reservations has a whole host of...

Baggage interline - separate PNRs - QF award flight on AA metal to QF award flight on QF metal

In practice AS still through checks if it's all on the same PNR. I can see why AS stopped doing it. It was a little known benefit before they joined oneworld so it wasn't done that often, whereas now they're likely getting such requests frequently. For AS, for them to through-check to a...

Why Early Checkin for MAS at SIN Doesn't work for Me (& Other Foreigners)

I use both Amadeus and Sabre. On Sabre the command is 3DOCS, 3DOCA and 3DOCO for all carriers except AA. For AA it's 4DOCS, 4DOCA and 4DOCO. See here for examples: https://www.qantas.com/agencyconnect/au/en/policies/book/agent-support/gds-formats/sabre-gds-formats.html

Why Early Checkin for MAS at SIN Doesn't work for Me (& Other Foreigners)

Yes. It looks at what is in the same PNR. If you hold a visa or permanent resident, these can be pre-entered into the PNR, online if the airline supports such functionality (some do, most don't), by airline staff, or if you have a travel agent that knows how to do it, they can enter it too.

Why Early Checkin for MAS at SIN Doesn't work for Me (& Other Foreigners)

The reason behind why you fail onwards travel checks is because it's part of a tool called ADC aka Auto Document Check, which Amadeus carriers can subscribe to, which checks things like you have onward travel etc. If the ADC check fails, then it denies check in unless it's manually overridden...

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

To be fair, I would have considered going revenue based as one change just implemented across two years given how major of a change it is. Anyone who couldn't read the writing on the wall is stuck under a rock...

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

Earn rates can always change year by year and partner carriers can change. There's nothing new about this concept - there's been a variety of changes over the years here and there. You just have to factor that in and work with the changes. The successful ones are the ones who can adapt. They...

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

You mainly lose: 1. Hilton diamond 2. Partner cards (though they're being enhanced™ from 23 months validity down to 12-13 months as part of these changes) 3. Showing on AA's system as "BA VIP" with CK service (hit and miss) 4. Being able to change/cancel redemptions for free 5. Jokers 6. CCR...

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

That's not completely true. It seems that big numbers scare people... but in reality all they did was take the current TP requirements for each point and multiply it by 13.35 and then they did some rounding. Lifetime gold is still very achievable, albeit a little harder, if you can adapt and...

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

In oneworld it's operating carrier.. but there may be exceptions. When you're flying on a codeshare, the operating carrier issues the BP and often the BP will have SOLD AS xx_X or MARKETED AS xx_X printed. However, the BP barcode almost always does not contain any info in the bar code about...
