    Ask The Pilot

Great feedback, thanks! I'm hoping it's the latter, but I also don't want to hold them up - just a quick hi and mark visit an A380 coughpit off the list (already marked off 747!). I sat in the FO seat of a Cessna 441 flying back from the far Southwest of Tassie to HBA recently for work, plenty...

Thanks JB! As always a fascinating response! And thanks for the info re: coughpit visit post flight, I'll definitely be asking the cabin crew if I can pop my head in and say hello!

G'day JB As I'm sure a few of us did, did you happen to see the story on 60 Minutes this week about the retirement flight of the QF 767 (VH-OGG) to Victorville in the Californian desert by any chance? For anyone curious, here's a link: Plane Graveyard | 60 Minutes | 9jumpin It wasn't a bad...

Would you rather: QF PE on 747 or Y on A380

Thanks notsure! After reading that thread, I did the selfless thing and changed to 2A ;) I hadn't really thought about the RHS having 2x the traffic. Ultimately is infinitely better than Y so any seat is great, I'm fortunate enough that I had the chance to pick the best of a great bunch...

Would you rather: QF PE on 747 or Y on A380

I'd say so, the closest I've had was an upgrade I bought from Y to PE on JAL from SYD-NRT for a day flight. Now JL PE is nowhere near as good as QF PE - based on nothing other than observation, if you assume the PE seat for QF is close to the newer J dom seats. The reason I say this is mainly...

Would you rather: QF PE on 747 or Y on A380

I'm with you 100% - definitely can't be picky! Its a window seat which is my main requirement. I'll take a few photos, I think it might warrant a TR on my behalf: "F class for the uninitiated" :)

Would you rather: QF PE on 747 or Y on A380

Thanks again everyone! Bit of an update, by some kind of miracle (or Red Roo Angel intervention...), an F seat showed up again on the 4th! Suffice to say I booked it right away! So I'm now J: HBA-MEL Overnight in MEL (I've got some meetings in MEL so that works well). QF93 F class Then Y...

Would you rather: QF PE on 747 or Y on A380

Thanks everyone, once again you've all outdone yourselves! When you spell it out like that, I think a night in Brisvegas and a PE seat will be worth it! And totally agree on the HBA lottery, generally November should be fine, but it is still a lottery - already been burnt twice this year due to...

Would you rather: QF PE on 747 or Y on A380

Hi Everyone! First off, I have sufficient points for either scenario, and I've flown Y on both the A380 and 747 on QF. I was waiting to confirm my need to travel in November (the week of the 4th) , if I was a couple of days quicker I could have snavelled a F seat on Melbourne Cup day on QF93...

JB, have you heard if QF30 will be getting an Air Crash Investigation episode? I recently saw the QF32 episode with Richard et. al. and it was fascinating. Given their participation I assume management gave their blessing on them being interviewed?

What do you do to save Hotel laundry charges?

I'll stretch shirts and pants as long as possible before I get them cleaned. Generally I take the hit and stump up for laundry at the hotel. If there's a guest laundry I'll also head there and do a load. I'm also not adverse to the socks and scruds in the bath and then turn the room into one...

    Acronyms on JQ Boarding Passes

Click HERE to view an article on this topic collaboratively compiled by our members using the (now retired) Wiki. I have the pleasure :D of flying JQ for a work trip in the next few days, I noticed on my BP that under my name it reads: "WCID, PBRD, WCID". I'm just curious if anyone has a...

    Upgrade a Friend Domestically

Forgive me if this is either a) a stupid question or b) already been asked and answered but I can't seem to figure this out (or find an answer). Can I upgrade a friend who is traveling with me on the same PNR on a domestic flight using the online tool? I've never tried it with another person...

Experience with Prepaid Travel Cards in Japan

Thanks for the responses (and that link!) guys! I guess if CBA and ANZ issue the cards with Yen as a standard currency then surely they should work there, I might take a mix of cash and card to be sure. In response to sprouce, the card locks in the rate when loaded - I wouldn't feel...

Experience with Prepaid Travel Cards in Japan

Hey Guys, Heading to Japan in a few months and I wanted to see if anyone had experience using one of the Prepaid Travel Cards over there (CBA, ANZ, or Travelex). I'm not traveling for long enough or regularly enough to justify a 28 Degrees card I don't believe, so I'm thinking a travel card...

    Laundering FF points

Pretty nice idea actually! However have you actually tried it yet or is it just an idea? Just my 2 cents (having worked for a betting agency, dealt with large bets and having been witness to dealings with the particular agency mentioned by the OP from the agency side): 1. Finding the betting...

    paid for at Gate upgrade

I did it the other day in the USA. I paid $45us for Y-A upgrade on a short AA MIA-MCO flight, but when you consider that I would have paid $25 to check my bag on AA (no bag fee exception for me :() it was only $20, and it was well worth that to skip the bag drop and TSA lines (insane at MIA!)...

Qantas A380 - ridiculous design fault

Exactly! I reckon they should mention that at the beginning of the flight so that people have a look and check to see if theres one free instead of waiting:)
