i just buy with 5% discount from cashrewards for wish cards. gets treated as supermarket spend so 3 points via amex edge. usually get the egift card within a few hours of buying. add into the woolworth money app for easy tracking.

it would be interesting to see what the true cost of each payment type is. is it fair for the cheapest form of payment to subsidise the more expensive ones? that would also mean only charging the difference between the cheapest and preferred payment method.

it's quite common for bank visa and mastercard to add a foreign merchant card fee even if the transaction was in AUD. AMEX don't seem to do this. Personally i think it needs legislation to stop this as it's a juicy 3% scam for the banks.
