Japanuary 2024 - the trip that nearly wasn't

Hard agree here... I basically give up coffee in Japan, not worth the time and effort to search imho...amazingly I survived (so far)!

    HKG-Tokyo (NRT/HND) Availability, March 25?

No idea about when CX will do their thing...but if you are going late Mar early Apr, to some popular places, then I suggest book hotels like now...Peak travel time is no joke. Last year I was in Kyoto early April and the tourist info office there literally posted a sign saying "no hotel vacancy...

Return to the Japan Alps May 2024

Thanks! It is done now, all things considered not too bad...they said I should need 3-4 days recovery. But damn my throat hurts, alot! Apparently mine is too small for the tube! Surely they have different sizes?! 😭 Surviving on soup and smoothie and silken tofu now...

Return to the Japan Alps May 2024

Hmm slight problem! Two weeks ago I got a phone call from hospital, remember you are on the wait list for some elective surgery? Yeah time is NOW. Bah, I've been on that wait list since Jan 2023, and before that waited 4 years for the specialist clinic appointment...🤢 It is truly not urgent...

Return to the Japan Alps May 2024

I may or may not have mentioned before, but the Japan Alps 日本アルプス is one of my favourite regions in the country, especially the Northern Alps. Okay Kyoto will always be the No.1 in my heart but damn the crowds can get to you...and ofc there's something about Tokyo that is nothing like the...

    Taipei Lounge

Personally I'd say Plaza Premium. With EVA you get The Infinity, which imho is average at best, and often quite crowded. Food is meh... at least in PP you have made to order noodles.

    Back to Japan and Korea

Tenshu has long gone in Kanazawa, but the other parts remain (or have been rebuilt) so I reckon it's still a Castle!

    JP/SG/HK 2024 - Ups and downs!

Cash problem aside, wouldn't Airport Express be better for the foot than trying to find uber? It's literally right across the hall when you clear immigration?

    Back to Japan and Korea

@RooFlyer Toyoko Inn is probably the largest chain business hotel in Japan? I think there are several hundreds of them. It's called business hotelビジネス ホテル because originally the target clientele are businessmen. Other similar ones are Super Hotel, APA Hotel, Route Inn, Comfort Hotel, etc. Daiwa...

    JP/SG/HK 2024 - Ups and downs!

Yeah I am not a fan of the Apex suites. Sure if you get the window seat privacy is great, but that's only 33% chance... And the lack of storage is shocking! The biggest pro of this seat imho is no footwell but completely irrelevant to me 🤣🤣

Transit in TPE, CI & CX interline?

I know interline on separate tickets is a hot mess....just hoping someone might have some first hand experience. So first flight is CI58 MEL TPE landing at 0445. Next flight is CX450 departing TPE at 1250. Both awards, separate bookings though from QFF & QR avios. Obviously I can clear...

    China Airlines business class?

Oh I know what you mean. I was stuck at the dungeon the first time! And it was packed to the rafters 🤢 All the midnight departures to AU & US were there! Only until I got back home and talked to my friends did I know there's another one upstairs and even nicer one at T1. My own fault for not...
