Emirates Cancels Singapore to Melbourne Flights from 30/3/25

Just received notification from Qantas. Was booked in First on points. Have clicked on "change flights" but no suitable flights found. I assume this is the same for people booked in business on points?

Emirates Cancels Singapore to Melbourne Flights from 30/3/25

Are we thinking those of us who booked with QFF points will just get a refund? Or any chance EK will work out a deal with Qantas to put us on their service?

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

So will we have a situation where Qatar Privilege Club members have earlier access to these Virgin Australia reward flights than Velocity members? I would rather redeem through Qatar anyway with my Amex points as far fewer points needed, but it would be quite odd.

Emirates Cancels Singapore to Melbourne Flights from 30/3/25

Anyone think it's strange they haven't announced an end date to this yet? Surely if they were going to default to end of March then they would've announced this by now? Seems odd they'd wait so long, each paid booking after the deadline means having to offer passengers alternative arrangements...

    How to find Aeroplan flights

Haven't booked yet - just looking at options for a future redemption I'll want to do beyond the calendar. Will bear this in mind and call up when I see availability!

    How to find Aeroplan flights

Both have the same amount of stops? Unless I'm missing something both stop in SIN and IST only, for the second option the stop in SIN is on the same flight number as it's a refuelling stop but that's about it.

    How to find Aeroplan flights

Does anyone know why these two SYD - SIN - IST - JFK options have different pricings in points? Both of them have less than 24h stopovers, the main difference is that SQ are doing the SYD - SIN leg.

Emirates Cancels Singapore to Melbourne Flights from 30/3/25

Doubt they'd cancel it with such little notice. People would be potentially still on their holidays with their flight home cancelled - if this actually happened Emirates probably would have to even put award tickets on QF flights. But I think it'll still be end of March 2025.

Oman Air seats now showing up as QF Classic Rewards

Can stitch together LHR - MCT - CGK - SYD for 176,200 points and about 600 GBP. Does involve a whole day in Oman (flight arrives at 7am and leaves at 2am the next day!) but there's a few big name 5* hotels in Muscat which are 250-300 AUD. Also about 5hrs between flights in Jakarta. CGK - SYD on...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

The points devaluation isn't that bad. Worst hit is the long haul J awards to Europe but even then they're very similar points to Qantas. Some others haven't moved much at all - one would hope there's no further devaluations for at least 2-3 years which would make this a good deal.

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

As a casual Velocity points user, the best use of the points for me (in terms of value and ease of redemption) was being able to fly with Singapore J for 70kish points one way to all sorts of places in SE Asia (and sometimes getting paid J to Europe from there). Very happy to see they have...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

For people with Amex this can be done with 100k Qatar points (like I'll be flying in Feb). Genuinely one of the best value redemptions - 31hrs in a Q suite for 100k points!

Turkish Airlines flights to Sydney start November 2024

Can't see much award space in J at all on this route with Aeroplan at least. I know the article showed there was a seat but they seem to have pulled them. I'd be v surprised if Turkish have much award space, they're pretty stingy with J award seats (to Aeroplan at least anyway)

Article: How I Make Qantas Reward Availability Work for Me

Emirates first class has been a great way of burning QF points for me. Had to fly into BNE last time but it was worth it. Need to use the multi city tool too as searching normally often doesn't show up. SYD - CHC is a fun redemption, had also booked SIN - MEL but for April next year, have a...

    Is QFi overextending itself?

SCL isn't an "ego" destination, there's lots of South Americans in Australia, tourist demand in both directions and not many options across the southern Pacific. QF also partner with LA on the route (even after LA left OW), so there is still capacity if things go awry.

Any likelihood of Qantas returning to Frankfurt?

The CGK route is great! Did that to Spain earlier this year. Spent a night in Jakarta just to smooth things out, some decent 5 star hotels on Amex FHR/Virtuoso to relax in even though that city isn't amazing.

Emirates Cancels Singapore to Melbourne Flights from 30/3/25

I don’t doubt you’re right here but a lot of airlines make their rewards programs into their own profitable schemes. Qatar have joined forces with BA and other airlines, have good availability outside peak times in Q-suite, only 90k points one way to Europe….whereas Emirates even charge their...

Emirates Cancels Singapore to Melbourne Flights from 30/3/25

Emirates rewards even in J aren't worth it with the surcharge anymore which is why it's such a shame this route is going. On normal routes the only rewards worth chasing are F given the carrier charges are the same for a much better experience
