I have both Priority Pass and Platinum Velocity. I like the Virgin lounges but I do fly internationally (and from lounge and PP less Launceston), so the PP is great (free with my credit card). Used both together in Sydney last week - better food at T2 than the lounge offering.

Be careful with Flybuys for credits. Sometimes they come through in days but Jan appeared two days ago. Go to LST. Cheaper than Flybuys anyway.

I would have thought it was straight forward, Gold gets x and Red gets nothing.

In theory you are not entitled to the Gold benefits even if you do travel together on one booking or two bookings but in practice (as others have said), it doesn't seem to be checked. My partner is also red.
