Sadly without Wifi I can't do any work on plane but I have done plenty on the Shinakansen bullet trains in Japan which are basically planes on rails. Makes the trips go nice and quickly. Hopefully the wifi on Qantas works as intended (eventually).

Speaking of Hello Kitty, by absolute chance recently I ended up on the Hello Kitty shinkansen. It's smaller than the usual ones so felt a little cramped but was kind of cool I guess. Got a Hello Kitty cookie

QF80, recently. I was ready to talk cough about the chicken but man it was actually really good, not dry at all. The soup is actually my new entre of choice for the evening flight back, just a shame they don't have garlic bread :(
I did notice this card payment a few times recently too, in Tokyo as well but can't recall which lines it was on. Could be right about the non JR though
Trip looks great. You may not care but that exchange rate is pretty bad and you can get cash out from regular ATMs for cheaper. I use bankwest card specifically for doing that as it cancels the exchange rate fee.
