Are credit Card Programs Still worth it?

Agree, I keep my Qantas Amex Ultimate because of the Qantas travel credit which we use at busy times when discounted domestic fares are not available. The lounge passes have come in handy but most of all the high earn rate makes it a no brainer to use for day to day spending. The only downside...

Article: How I Make Qantas Reward Availability Work for Me

Good article. Everyone’s needs/wants are different but my beef with Q is that its not just Business long haul routes that are difficult to find CR seats on its often tough to find Economy. Its also true that you can often get good value domestically on certain routes and at certain times. But...

    TWE CellarDoor Discussion & Invites

My suggestion is to get on the Winestar list (better value these days than TWE) and you can elect to have your shipment held in hot periods. Never had a bad wine from them and some great offers.

Article: The Cheapest Flights from Australia to New York

We’re having an interesting experience getting from New York to Melbourne using Q economy classic reward seats. I’m writing this from Q club in AKL. The first battle was to find CR seats! Nothing when looking up New York to Melbourne, nothing New York to Sydney (starting to curse), I’ll try...

Latitude 28 Degrees $8 per month starting September 2024

Yep I’m going to cancel too once I get home. This is a silly move on behalf of Latitude as it removes its main competitive advantage and relies on consumers not being willing to change. My experience with Wise (visa debit) overseas has been very positive.

Qantas Launching MEL - HNL from May 2025

Yes indeed! Discounted Jetstar Melb-Honolulu flights have represented great value. To go via Sydney means the domestic to international transfer which is annoying! A first world problem I know but surely they can improve it.

Latitude 28 Degrees $8 per month starting September 2024

I really don’t get this. The primary reason for having this card (low transaction fees on os purchases) has now been counteracted by the monthly fee. So they will lose many, many customers (including me). I would have thought after the security breach Latitude would be working to assist clients...

China announces visa-free travel for Australians visiting up to 30 days (previously 15 days)

With QANTAS recently upping its stake in Trip a deal and some great 12 day China tour options part of their offerings it would not be a surprise to see travel to China increase. Plus with a far more sensible government approach to relations with China it feels less intimidating to visit.

Qantas reward bookings on Bangkok Airways

We travelled BA using Q points for economy classic rewards last year (coughet to Koh Samui and Koh Samui to Singapore). Great value (incl low taxes and charges) and excellent service and hospitality for a “budget” airline. Heartily recommend.

    Qantas A330-200 cabin refurbishments

Recently flew Economy Singapore-Melbourne overnight on an A330 and the “entertainment” was a bit of a disaster. At least 10 passengers - including me did not have ipads ( passengers pinch them apparently!). When the safety demonstration was playing the audio from the quirky historic QANTAS film...

    Qantas classic reward seat release

Hi Matt, Qantas have mentioned as part of their mea culpa that they are going to release more reward seats. Do we have any idea when or on which routes? Thanks, Paul
