    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Actually being able to click and load the dates past 353. You have to click from day 353 back to day 352 (eg from 2 Sep to 1 Sep) before it should then let you go forward (to 3 Sep & behind). Only for non-QF metal rewards, as QF do not release anything until 353 days out. Not sure what CI...

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Just checked again. If you do a search for 353 days out, then click back to 352 (not entirely sure why this step is needed), you can then click forward to browse the specific availability for the 7 days after day 353. It’s a bit clunky but it works.

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

For revenue flights, I don’t think so. For CR, I’ve had luck in the past by selecting the latest possible date available in the calendar. Tick “flexible with dates”. Hit search, then you should be able to search past the 353 limit for partner airlines that release earlier than that (pending...

Cheap flights coming? - China’s back

Had a laugh at a similar email from Qatar yesterday - "celebrating 15 years of service in Australia" with "special offers to London starting from $1,839 return in Economy Class" To give QR credit, they do actually have some pretty competitively priced Europe return fares that I've seen for...

Sydney to Rarotonga online check in issue

Great to hear - thanks for the update. Sounds like a pretty standard JQ journey with the food and comfort, but as you say, it gets the job done. Enjoy the rest of your time in Rarotonga!

@KarenD how did check-in end up going for you? Any issues?

    Tokyo Haneda slot - 2025

The stipulation that it has to be an Australian airline is interesting - I assume a requirement of the regulations that govern slot allocation? That being so, I'd assume it's as good as secured for Qantas. It'll be interesting to see which city gets the prize. Sounds like it won't be too long...

    Koala Airlines Discussion

It would be hilarious if that’s the case, given the amount of media coverage it’s received in recent weeks.

    Koala Airlines Discussion

Sure looks like it. Here’s hoping that their “brighter future” involves a more consistent level of reliability and service than the current state of National Rail services.

Qantas Launching MEL - HNL from May 2025

Jetstar CEO suggests all three are on their radar in this article. https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/vegas-cape-town-not-out-of-reach-jetstar-ceos-huge-plans/news-story/df956dc10aa83725668f19302fd47b90

    Qantas Seat Selection Costs

Weird policy. I don't imagine it'd win many favours with Aussies living in NZ who might be tempted to switch over to Airpoints. Or expats anywhere else in the world for that matter.

    Qantas reward flights multiple airlines

I recall reading in a recent thread that CI has slimmed down the number of classic reward business class seats it releases to QF. That may explain why there’s less availability with them than last year. On CI, or all airlines? Classic reward availability to LHR is always a little tricky, but as...

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

As long as QF will let you link the pass to those flights, yes. Sometimes they close off access during peak travel periods due to high demand, so just keep an eye out for that - but if it lets you link, you're good to go.

How to avoid huge tourist overcrowded destinations?

I can't think of many better ways to spend a week than that. Using it as a base to get to other places as you suggest sounds like a great option.

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Correct - no lounge access here. Only the domestic Club - you would need to re-enter international departure area to get to international business lounge, which would not be permitted without an onward intl flight. Yes.

How to avoid huge tourist overcrowded destinations?

Thanks for the feedback. It'll be in late November, so hopefully before it gets too cold and the winter tourist rush arrives. Have heard Bologna is great too - might consider that as an option also.

How to avoid huge tourist overcrowded destinations?

Planning for a potential day trip from Florence - do you think it's achievable to see the main sights in Venice with around 9 hrs between train arrival and train departure? Heading to Italy in a few months and have heard mixed accounts about how achievable this is.

Sydney to Rarotonga online check in issue

Had a similar experience recently. KIX-BNE booked as a Qantas CR. Was able to initiate the check-in process on JQ website (or app, can't remember which), but was told to check in at airport. We had no issues when checking-in at airport (other than a pretty significant queue), and our...

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Finnair have pretty solid availability into LHR… but that of course depends on availability (and willingness) to fly via HEL from somewhere in Asia.
