So I assume a last minute ticket on SQ CBR-SIN-MEL/SYD will be cheaper than a direct CBR-MEL/SYD on QF! :)

The rumour is consistent with a lot of word around the campfire. I would count it as extremely credible.

AFR rumour - SQ to launch SIN-CBR-WLG

Looks like an interesting and Promising development for CBR if correct.
WLG would be pretty excited to get another International Carrier into & out of their Airport too.

This section of the topic might be slightly off-topic, but the article mentioned this

Even Adelaide has direct flights to New Zealand and Asia (popular with fugitives carrying duffle bags full of Centrelink money)

Can anyone shed any light as to what the journo is talking about?

That went over my head too...

But this is extremely promising. It would make my CBR-based family very happy.

Fantastic news! Finally some love for CBR.

The question remains: Will the route get a regional A330, or a proper international product?

Given the article mentions the A330 and SQ only has regional product on the 330, it seems obvious that it would be regional product.

I wonder which lounge J pax will use? The whole airport is essentially brand new, so someone's going to have to build a new one on the international side.

I got bogans going to Bali from this one.

My bet is on a OOL style setup, with the VA Dom lounges used.

You're probably right, but it's an interesting arrangement! Would be a first for the SQ/VA relationship.

It would be a shame though, capacity-wise. I actually love the CBR lounge and I think that's partly because of how much space there is. Hopefully it wouldn't change that too much.

I wonder whether PPS Solitaire Gold (or whatever SQ call their invitation only tier) will get access to the club? ;)

PPS isn't invitation-only, it's based on spend in F/J so they're more to likely to have access to a QF-style J lounge.

But in the highly unlikely case that happened, it would make my blood boil all the way from the KF Gold lounge in SIN.

I also feel that they would likely send status/J pax to the existing VA lounge, at least in the short term. Not sure how that would work for pax transiting between SIN & WLG.

I'm pretty sure they do have an invitation only, it's just a heaps better kept secret than its Australian counterparts.

Further too that do VA Club members get access to SKL F lounges?

Some Googling reveals you might be right there – very little information though. Can't even confirm the name.

VA status pax don't even get access to the SKL J lounge in SIN, much to the chagrin of many. Although we do at outstations.

VA lounge members don't get any access outside of VA and NZ lounges I believe.
