After 12 months + of negotiations, confirmation today that Chinese carrier Donghai (DZ) will operate a twice-weekly service between Darwin and Shenzhen from May, initially flying a B737-800. From the Top End to Shenzhen: Darwin to China direct flights launched for the first time
Sad news for Perth today, Etihad has announced the removal of the Perth route from 01 October 2018.
As a Virgin Frequent Flyer really sad to see us lose another option out of Perth after losing the NZ partnership too.
Apologies if previously asked (I have been absent from this group since the demise of the app and what I thought was this forum ended up being a seperate Facebook group!)
Have not done the AU to UK direction for a while - now the kangaroo route has returned - are PJ,s offered in J - SYD-SIN leg?
Qantas files one-way Johannesburg – Perth schedule from Dec 2018
Hooray for more QF international flights from Perth! :)
Looks as though Qantas will be boosting capacity to Johannesburg over the Christmas period this holiday season.
Perhaps no Perth - Auckland this year? :(
Apologies if already posted elsewhere but just saw this come across my Bloomberg. Not sure what this actually means from a FF perspective if VA and NZ will remain strategic partners but interesting nonetheless
Looking for an F award in mid May to early June to Singapore from Mel/Syd. Any recent experience with QF releasing seats closer to the time there is no avaliability at all. Thanks
It has been suggested by @RooFlyer that an up-to-date list of fifth-freedom routes would be a useful AFF resource.
So, we've put together a complete list which is available here:

Air NZ just announced flights from Auckland to Chicago. One of my favourite US cities!!

I am wondering if it is possible to determine which routes a particular aircraft model will? For example SQ flies the A350 to Europe but on which routes or to which cities? Can Expert Flyer or another program help with this?
Cheers

I'm trying to get to the USA in December/January using points and have had no luck finding anything on VA so looking at other options to get there. Have around 590k VA points to burn and looking to try out an Etihad redemption for the first time (AUS - AUH - JFK) so have a few questions (I'm WP...

Probably won't be of too much interest to most of the AFF clan - but MNA announced their new routes from Yangon to coughet twice weekly (Fridays and Sundays) this week.
Inaugural flight is 25th March, and they had a launch function down in coughet the other day.
As someone based between Yangon...
Indirect routes such as MEL-SYD-OOL and MEL-BNE-CNS have jumped in price a lot to be much higher than flying direct. Hope this is just a temporary change.
Hi all,
Hoping a travel agent or someone with experience with fare rules can help me out.
I’m looking at the fare rules here for a flight to Hong Kong, which is currently priced based on PER QF xSIN CX HKG.
I’m wondering whether I can tag on a flight from Sydney at the start without being...
Came across this on the American Airlines website and thought it might be of interest to some. AA and BA are launching a range of new non-stop trans-Atlantic services ahead of the northern summer this year:
PHL-BUD (seasonal)
PHL-PRG (seasonal)
ORD-VCE
DFW-KEF
BNA-LHR (BA service)
DFW-KEF is...
It seems that Air Asia will switch it's current KUL-MEL flights to Avalon (which depending on your point of view is Geelong's airport, or Melbourne's second or third commercial airport), towards the end of 2018.
As reported in SMH/Fairfax,
Maybe already known on here, but there is now an opportunity to earn more VFF points and SC it seems, just seen SQ now will stop CBR - WLG direct flights, but will put in MEL - WLG instead, all starting from SIN of course.
Will want to see and feel the SQ KF MEL lounge one of the these days...
Fly Pelican will start direct flights from Newcastle to Adelaide from March, with flights 3x weekly and fares starting at $249 one-way. Apparently the flights will be operated by Alliance Airlines, not sure exactly how that works.
