This would be more appealing if the 50% off was on the fees and taxes rather than the points.

Re: 50% off points on Y classic rewards to the US

A$ induced offer... there will be more.

It went in the trash as soon as I saw whY only.

Re: 50% off points on Y classic rewards to the US

Take the 50% off the fuel fines/taxes also and I'd bite.

Re: 50% off points on Y classic rewards to the US

I'm heading to NYC next Oct so booked my flight in - can't book flight out as yet. Being relatively low on the FF earning scale I snavelled the 32k one-way.

I did wonder if it's targeted .. Did get one of the emails. Not sure I want to take it up. New York looks like an option ....

Terrible offer considering sale economy seats return for LAX were on sale a few months back for around $1,100 and the offer in the email is 48,000 points plus $621.16 in taxes/fuel one way. Seems I'd be better waiting for another sale of general fares rather than using my QFF points. It's pretty disgusting and not really rewarding of loyalty.

Will have to think about the best way to spend my points as clearly economy flights aren't worth the spend.

I think they should have made it all clases excluding WP released seats because let face it there are no virtually no J or F redemption availiable anyway. That way QANTAS would look generous while giving nothing.

Re: 50% off points on Y classic rewards to the US

Nick thanks for that response. I was thinking that too. It is cheaper to actually buy the airfare if you were travelling economy and reap the points anyway. Would be really nice to see a REAL J offer which is available.

Re: 50% off points on Y classic rewards to the US

It is quite sad that even at 50% off, booking a Y classic reward seat is still poor value. Currently, BNE-LAX is AUD1049 rtn for mid next year or 48000 pts and AUD621 (with no earning of FFP or SC either).

I would pay the AUD428, keep the 48000 pts and pocket the 18000 pts I would earn as a WP on the revenue fare.

You mean 48k points plus $621.16 taxes return. Parents booked 2 x one way to LAX for 24k + $355 taxes each, one way.

I got this email and was tempted, even though I was short on points for the 3 tickets we need, but after looking at the cost of fees and taxes it would only come out $1000 cheaper for 3 tickets. Got all excited for nothing.

I was thinking this was a good deal until I saw reference to these posts regarding the revenue airfare.

Fuel surcharges are ridiculous and do not belong on award tickets.

Re: 50% off points on Y classic rewards to the US

might be handy for those with not enough points to do a J or F return Award, can do a Y + J or Y + F
If they can snare J/F availability in the first place ....
Return in Y not a very good use though.

Couldn't agree more that the fuel needs to drop off award tickets
