Applied the Friday before, week, they called my office Monday to verify that I work there and spoke to me to clarify some expenditure and loans. Received the card in the mail last Friday. I expect to receive another letter with the PIN and supplementary card soon.

Question - 2 Priority Pass entries are included with this card. If my wife and I visit the lounge together at the same time, does that count as 1 entry or 2?

Do they email statement or send it in the mail?
I don't seem to have been alerted to fact that a new statement is posted and due for payment?
I did get a statement for my Debit Plus card but only discovered Signature statement by login?

Its some configuration setting available online.

Got my Platinum in the mail a few days ago. Will hold onto it and hopefully get the offer to upgrade to Signature fee free sometime next year.

I'm self employed and applied last Friday's night. I got a call on Monday then another call today and got approved a few minutes later for a Platinum card..They asked me to send all the documents including address verification even if I have been a Citibank customer for like 4-5 years (Only Transaction and saving accounts)

Notice of Assessment wasnt enough and I had to send a whole Tax return with all the details lol I received another call today asking about ABN. He ran some check and asked what my business's postcode was. I just moved to this new place 2 months ago. Landline isnt in my name and I wasnt too sure what postcode was on ABN file (ended up being my first address in Australia). I gave up and told him it was either xx_X, xx_X or xx_X. The guy wasnt quite impressed with my answer and said he would process my application now. Thought it would be declined but got an approval email a few minutes later. Citibank isn't that harsh to self employed after all.

This wasn't quite a smooth experience though compared to ANZ and Amex. With ANZ, I was their customer and back in 2008 I called them and asked if I could apply for a credit card (that basic QFF card). The agent asked me some questions for 10 mins then he said it had been approved and I would get the card in 3-5 days lol Didn't expect that. I have 2 Amex cards and both times, they sorted everything out with my accountant. I didn't have to send anything (Maybe just a copy of my passport)

As a self employed earning little money, I think I've been pretty lucky with CC applications.

Tried to activate today. Apparently they're calling me back because there is some problem.

The other half applied last week for the signature card.

Instantly approved
Card arrived in mail today

No income check
No ID check
Never been a Citi customer

Awesome!

Nice, time to start abusing.... I mean spending...

I keep my +1's fee-free Signature card purely as a backup for overseas trips.

Someone here (? CruiserElite) had his Select compromised in Spain and had to fall back on his wife's card for the remainder of their trip.

Why spend on two cards and get two sets of statement, payment deadline etc...

Not to mention diluting by half the accumulated Rewards points.

Same experience with wife's application: no ID check (already a Select suppl card holder), no calling to Accountant, instant approval .....

Yeah but the 2 x priority pass is only for the card holder.....try to use with someone and BAM $27US hit on card!
So to get the free Priority passes need two people to apply to get both in at same time for FREE!

Called back to activate today after they didn't call me. Found out the problem, I forgot that I added a secondary card holder. Oops

Whos name do you put on +1 card...your own?
To be used as a backup.....

Yes I agree. I only got a card for myself with a sup for my wife, rather than us each get an account. I could not see any advantage in us both having a card, apart from the occasional bonus offer. Whereas two accounts has lots of negatives.

With Citi only being able to move points in increments is a real negative, and having two accounts just magnifies this drawback.

I think you've misunderstood legroom's point!

He is saying that he and his +1 do have separate cards, but only one is used and the other is used as a back up for overseas, in case one gets compromised.

Having only one account with a supplementary card as you've mentioned will not provide this protection - if one card is compromised, both cards will be stopped.

Given it's fee free for life, the best solution would be to each have an account, with each having a supplementary card on the other's account. Use one account and keep the other for emergencies.

Your understanding is correct in every way.

Two separate Citibank ACs: one for each person (husband + wife).

Each AC has the other spouse as the supplementary card holder.

Only one AC is used while the other is reserved for emergencies e.g. cards being compromised.

With the fee-free offers, one would be remiss not to create a reserve account.

If interested, you still have time left.

The offer ends on 31 Dec IIRC.

This is not the case. The cards on an account all have different numbers. If one is compromised, they only cancel and reissue that one.

Saying that, with the fee free offer it makes sense for a couple to have one account each (with supplementary cards on each other's accounts, appropriately marked).

My experience with CBA many years ago is that they cancelled my compromised card only, leaving my wife's supp card alone.

I don't know if Citibank is any different or indeed if CBA still does the same thing.
