$0 Annual Fee for Life on Citi Platinum/Signature CC Complimentary Insurance

You only need to pay as shown on each statement. Your next statement (due in a couple of days?) will show the minimum payment due in the following month (i.e., about mid-December?).

Edit: It has nothing to do with the cheque clearing. As far as Citi is concerned, they have already sent you the "cash" (they wont actually send it for a few more days, but at least you will have use of interest-free money for about 5.5 months)

IME it takes 7-10 days to get the cheque. Allow up to 5 business days to clear, depending on the financial institution.

Your statement/due date does not change. Interest will be charged from the end of the 6 months period (calculated on a daily basis).

If you bank the cheque into a mortgage offset or pay into a cc account you get value immediately. Delay in clearing only impacts if you want to withdraw it for yse after paid in.

Yep I did the mortgage thing 6 times already...now its into Ubank...otherwise offshore if the dollar was 1:1 into Vanguard as already have BRK........
Thanks for confirming it will be this statement that min due back....stuffed up there with losing first month...should have waited 2 days but want money in Ubank to get the interest this month......6 and 1/2 dozen?

The offer, which seemed to be consistently extended, appears to have disappeared ... ? Anyone have an updated link?

If it is finally over, does anyone know of a comparable offer elsewhere? We're looking to dump our Woolworths card given the recent hike in the annual fee.

Probably the suncorp platinum.

Apologies if this has been covered before, but I have searched and not found the relevant information.

I applied for and received the Signature card on this deal about 6 months ago (many thanks to the OP), and am now starting to accumulate points, so am also thinking about what to do with them.

My general impression was that transferring to Velocity or KrisFlyer were the preferred alternatives, but I am just wondering if there is a significant benefit to either of those alternatives over the other.

I am currently a Velocity Silver member and do not have a KF account. My *alliance points usually go to my A3 M&B Gold account, or Avianca LifeMiles.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

With Citi rewards the same conversion to velocity and Kris, you could initially transfer to either program and then transfer between velocity and Kris to suit you destination and number of points required for a redemption. I would probably not transfer if you did not have a redemption in mind.

For example you could hold citi rewards until say a 15% transfer bonus came along. Transfer Citi to Velocity at 1.5:1 and get the bonus 15% as well. Then transfer velocity to Kris at 1:1.35 if Kris is where you wanted to redeem..

Just a thought

Just warehouse in Citi and wait until you have an opportunity in either KF or VA then transfer would be my advice. Maintains flexibility.

Yes I agree with you knasty as you can wait for a bonus offer if you have points warehoused in a Citi credit card. I did take up the Velocity bonus offer recently as there coast to coast product has improved.

Thanks to all for the various responses. I will plan on accumulating with Citi until the points are required, and will keep an eye out for bonus points offers on transfers (must admit I missed these in the past...).

On a related matter, unless I am missing something there does not seem to be any transparency regarding the base and bonus points I earn on card transactions. The monthly statement provides a cursory summary, but I have not found anything on my account on the web site that provides any detail of how many points / bonus points were earnt per transaction. As such it is very difficult to check whether the Citi calculations / allocations are correct. Most of our spending is done O/S so I would like to have some visibility of this.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

tb

You're right there isn't but at least they credit points when the transaction posts. Not as good as the competition like altitude that post details so can easily reconcile.

I've got an experiment running with Diners to earn some SPG there is no visibility at all. Have to wait for points to post one billing cycle in arrears. Once you've paid the closing balance of the last statement and next one is issued.

Compared to that Prestige is pretty good (albeit both citi products).

Not that many places which is why I called it an experiment :) we'll see how it goes before I decide whether to turf it.

Yeah supermarkets and major chain stores and department stores take it. Prefer platinum edge for supermarkets though at 2:1 MR to SPG conversion ratio, Diners is exactly the same as plat edge.
