Thanks, JohnK! I had no idea I was getting so, um, prolific. And what, if I may say so, a good post to hit the milestone with. Usually I have a lame joke or a political rant or something, but this was one of my few heartfelt and considered efforts, with spelling and grammar and stuff!

What a fabulous resource this is. AFF is always excellent reading, but a few stars shine brighter than most. Jb747 blazes high, with his informative posts from the business end of the plane. We put our lives in the hands of jb and his colleagues, and I have every trust that they do their very best with the burden.

As for flying and talking about it, it remains the best theme park ride in the world for me. I flew over some snow-covered Midwestern states the last month, and while Minnesota and the Dakotas arent seen as high points for culture, the patterns of snow and light and farming created some wonderful abstract art. Or the textures of waves and clouds and mountains in some forgotten corner of the world.

Backyards and rail lines in the big cities. That's the human community living together right there. How many unspoken tales of love and struggle are bound up in a glance over a suburb? What songs are people hearing in their cars on a freeway, what lights up their eyes as the sun comes up, or plays on the clouds brushing my wing tips?

I love all this flying business, and I love hearing fellow souls talking of their joys and otherwise.

This community is a delight, and I thank you for your heads-up.

It's only taken me nearly 10 years to get there having joined under this name in October 2003. I actually have been here longer than that with another user id that got lost.
Would have hit 1000 sooner but all the Playground posts got taken out of the tally at some stage.

I've been here long enough to have congratulated LindsayWilson on his 300th post!

People must have become more talkative since those days.:mrgreen:

This site has been invaluable to me over the years for planning travel, learning about JASAs, getting to WP (once) maintaining SG for most years, getting the Wizard MasterCard for OS use in ATMS, paying my tax bills by credit card and many more. Thanks to all concerned. I don't fly as much as many here but I hope I've been able to contribute something myself over the years.
