1-5 days in ATH/Greece

I have 1-5 days in Athens on my trip in mid-October.

I had not specifically planned for Greece on this trip but it is part of my sector from East Coast USA to Israel.

I have a love of the outdoors and hiking.

Please entertain me with your suggestions. Could I perhaps visit a Greek Island, such as Crete?

Santorini and Mykonos are the most famous Greek Islands, but the accommodation are $$$.

Was in Santorini, Athens and Milos back in October. Milos was my favorite. For hiking/outdoors it is particularly suited.

A must hike is the Samaria Gorge in Crete....need to stay in Chania and catch the bus to the top of the gorge and then the ferry back when your finished....Symi has great hiking as well

Yes well I was thinking about Crete and Samaria Gorge for a couple of days.
Alternatively I can just skip Greece and just fly to TLV from Athens.

There is ferry route that loops around from Piraeus to Naxos and Paros for some Island hopping.
