EK412 was showing as doing the SYD-CHC route from 1st July previously. But it looks like it has been removed or pushed back.

So a return flight to Europe in J now costs 318k Qantas Points + $2k in cash. Doesn’t seem very “rewarding”!
Look at the bright/ positive side, a random search MEL-CDG return the cheapest cash price in J was around AUD7,700, so you are still saving around $5,700 ;):p:rolleyes: Jokes aside it is a pretty big hike and given EK were moved to the standard partners reward rates it hardly seems worth using EK moving forward.

Not sure but it may be across the board, if you read the point hack post it references another post from OMAAT earlier this week.

Booked 2 reward tickets FCO-DXB (Economy) and DXB-BNE (J) with Emirates last week, taxes were $828 for both.
Which reminds me, must chase up the e-ticket numbers!

Others may disagree, but this sudden move is a major reason why I endeavour not to 'bank' FF points accumulated through any airline's scheme ad infinitum.

The strategy has been impossible for the last 25 months, but it's one way of recognising these airlines hold all the cards.

Another way is to simply book the best value (not just 'price', but seat configuration and other factors) fare and rid oneself of an obsession with obtaining status or FF points. That will go against the grain for many AFFers.

Yeah, earning points as you try to improve status can be a costly exercise. Buying points outright however, without the status, can be very profitable!

Yeah the OMAAT article and comments show that it's worldwide. Some EK fifth freedom flights from the US haven't changed apprently.

At least when Qantas Frequent Flyer increased the points required to book on Emirates, it gave its members three months of notice.
There was no warning whatsoever about this latest change.
What 3 months notice ??

My EK BNE/DXB J class booking made on Dec 24 2021 suddenly disappeared without trace, nor any contact from QF to this date. The "confirmed" booking showed up on EK with their booking ref with a little note saying "it looks like this booking has been cancelled.....contact your travel agent, ie QF". To add insult to injury QF hit me with a top up points charge of $1427.
Obviously QF were well aware of the situation back then & chose to unilaterally cancel. All QF actions are predicated on maintaining a certain individuals obscene bonus payments, just another Ryan "cunning plan".
I raised a dispute with Amex who have credited my account with the proviso it could still be reversed.
Raised the issue by email with QF "customer care", ref: SR5843244 on Jan 08, no action.

By the way do not bother with www.airlinecustomeradvocate.com , total waste of space, just another QF funded firewall. They rejected my dossier as I had "not raised a complaint with QF", KIND OF DIFFICULT WITH ZERO COMMUNICATION !

Next step will be the ACCC, maybe also ABC, & recovering the circa 250K points QF stole from me.

Every annoucement/move by airlines is bad news/cost cutting/price rises dressed up as a benefit for the consumer.

I should be used to it by now but it really makes me angry

Especially since I'm trying to book a premium flight this year using emirates

Means it better to book rewards with actual one world carriers.
My policy for some time has been to use points to get to Asia and then revenue flights from there. When you can get return fares from SEA to Europe regularly for $2k it’s a far better option for us. Everyone is different though

Where's your favourite departure ports in SEA?
