Emirates hikes up carrier charges on reward seats

If booking through Qantas, is it possible to points upgrade to business on Emirates?

Hmmm.horrible news

Does anyone know when these will start or can I book one now to avoid these costs

Holy ....!

With QF not offering J/F seats for a family of 4 overseas, CX decimated, EK carrier surcharges sky high, I wonder what the point of collecting QF points is anymore? I am almost better off starting to redeem QF points on toasters etc.? Or maybe Point + Pay tickets?

This is why I don’t bank points. I’m glad I’ve used them in the past to fly Emirates F to Barcelona and Bangkok from Sydney. Great experience and well worth it at the time a few years back.

The higher carrier charges have already come into effect. No advanced notice or warning was provided by Qantas or Emirates.

This is outrageous, and fuel prices are already heading downwards due to increased production outside Russia, just take a look at today's Crude Oil price at USD $96 per barrel.
Either way, I'd definitely be looking at other airlines over Emirates now as this is daylight robbery.

I've flown EK a few times and could never understand the hype. Their J product is fine but standard like most full service airlines. I'll def give them a miss now.

Simple answer don't fly Emirates..
Not actually that simple.

QF award availability is close to non-existent at the moment. CX is precarious. JL is not possible unless same airport. AY has ceased most flying to Asia. QR doesn't release more than one seat. BA fuel fines are similarly outrageous. Options are few and far between for QFF points holders.

The key is to get to Asia and from there the options for QFF points are much better. QR award availability is pretty darn good ex Asia for instance

To be honest, as an exclusively EK traveller, it has always annoyed me to see QF loyalists scrambling for an infinitely better F experience with EK. I pay for my EK F seats, and it's always annoying that until recently it has been too easy for QF apologists to escape the paltry Qantas offering for the quality EK offering by collecting their QFF points and crowding out those of us who really contribute to EK's bottom line. So I say bring it on, make it much harder and make them pay even more!

I'm expecting a robust reaction to this no doubt unpopular view!

Ooooh, controversial!

It doesn't matter to me what HRH thinks, I'm just voicing my own opinion. But to satisfy your need to know, I will ask him next time we chat!

Where’s Kevin from double bay?

I just got off the blower from Sheikh Mohamed who was recovering from his morning bog. He told me he's happy for QF freeloaders to pay more and contribute towards that bottom line!

Apologies for the crudity. I won't descend to it again.

How dare you say such things on AustralianFF ;) when it suited Emperor Joyce he jumped into bed with Sir Tim and Sheikh Mohamed, not literary, at once or together and things were good for a while. Then QF went back to the old ways and the shouts of 'hoorah' QF is going back through SIN echoed through the masses :p So now 12-14 QF aircraft with limited F or J award availability for P1s WPs vrs 100+ EK aircraft with availability to most almost any location but costs more. Who do we think we are kidding.
