Seems very generous and quite lucrative for Diamond status with only 15 nights required. Remember to plan your stays and timing of registration for the 120 day window to capture the required nights. Note that you must register before July 31st.

How long does it take for the Platinum status to kick in for 120 days after registering for the promo?

Looks good if you can make diamond. Otherwise you may as well buy Ambassador IMO

Ed: Suppose you could take advantage of the grace Plat status though

Nice one.

Will it work if one’s already IHG Plat….?

I have a 5 night stay this weekend! But I’m expecting that to complete the “Fast track” promo from earlier in the year to retain Plat…

Registered this afternoon, status match to Accor Platinum.
IHG status is already showing as Platinum Elite.
Haven't been requested to upload a jpg/pdf to verify my Accor status yet?
Clicked the register now and then email address, that's it so far.

I heard that you didn't need to have or prove status in another program

This is cool, already diamond but hopefully we see it repeated in future years as there's no way I'll hit the renewal target.

its immediate once you register. I did it then logged back in to see the Plat status
Yeah it was supposed to be immediate but mine still hasn't been updated days after.

I've emailed IHG Rewards about it and they were finally able to update my account to reflect the Plat status. They are good at responding to emails fast!

Hi Linda , I'm in the same boat as you as mine hasn't updated either. What email address did you use to contact them ? Thanks in advance.

I noticed this offer last Thursday, but was waiting for the official discussion to start here because:

I'm Virgin + QF Gold and have yet to choose between a year of Hilton Honors Gold or IHG 1 Gold as per Velocity Gold benefits.

Although imo, HH is overall a worse loyalty program, Gold level status members get instant room upgrades (if available), which is a great perk not offered at the equivalent IHG Gold level.

I have 3 nights booked at a Crowne Plaza (IHG) property in June and have yet to book 2 nights (One in Toronto, one in NYC.) Would I be wrong in choosing Hilton Honors Status through VA Gold and then applying for the IHG match/status challenge?

There could be two caveats, which is that I only have VA gold status because of the VA status match/challenge offered to QF Gold and above last year. I haven't met the criteria to keep my Gold status, but for some reason, they've kept extending it. I currently have it extended until July 11, at which time I will have returned from my North America trip. Will this have any complications for the hotel status that I choose with VA?

Assuming that I choose HH status and it isn't affected by my loss of Gold VA status, would it be safe to say that the choice I'm considering kinda covers both bases?

The second caveat is: The 3 nights at Crowne Plaza are at discounted group rates (I think) as I'm attending a conference at the hotel. Do these qualify as "qualifying nights" for the purpose of IHG'S promotion?

*note: My 3 night Crowne Plaza booking is showing up in my IHG account

Would love the thoughts of fellow forum users!

Cheers.

Are nights booked in an IHG property through a 3rd party such as Booking.com counted towards your number of nights required to retain status?

Do you qualify to receive Platinum benefits?

The terms and conditions published on the registration page state:
To be a qualifying night under this Promotion, the room night must be part of a Qualifying Stay. Only those qualifying nights falling within the member’s Stay Period are counted for purposes of the Promotion. Room nights prior to registration or outside of a member’s Stay Period are not included. A “Qualifying Stay” is a minimum one (1)-night stay booked under a Qualifying Rate, with total spend exceeding US $30 (or local currency equivalent) for each night. Bookings made through on-line travel agencies or other reservation sites such as booking.com or expedia.com are not eligible for this Promotion.
While this is very specific and clearly excludes reservations booked through on-line travel agencies, sometimes these MAY make it through the system and count, but do not rely upon that happening. Best way to ensure it a qualifying stay is to book directly through IHG site. Its "possible" that bookings through things like Amex Travel (using travel credits) or Qantas Hotels (using Points Club voucher) may work, but not guaranteed and no come back if it doesn't show as a qualifying night/stay.

That is where I am sitting at the moment. I am pretty sure I will make the 5 nights for Platinum, but Platinum via Ambassador and the IC weekend night stay might be better value, especially as some of those 5 nights would be at IC properties so going via Ambassador path means Ambassador benefits for those initial IC stays.

Anyway, I have a few weeks to decide as first stay (IC) is booked for early July - though its a rewards points stay, not paid so would get Ambassador benefits but no count as a qualifying stay/night for this promotion.

Not booked through booking.com

Not overly fussed to be honest, as all I want is the plat status for possible room upgrades at IHG properties in Toronto AND NY.

That being said, I'm staying 3 nights at a crowne plaza property for a conference next month, I booked it through the link on the conference registration page.

I could always cancel my booking, then ring IHG direct and rebook?

Question,

Just chose HH Gold as part of Gold status VA and received an email stating that it will take up to 20 days.

This is important because I wish to register for the IHG platinum elite match.
Will they accept HH gold for IHG plat match?
Got 3 nights booked at IHG property in june...

Cheers

Last I heard you didn't need any status to take up. The request for your status is presumably for their own market research

I usually find better rates on conference hotels online and if you book direct you get status benefits. Topcashback.com usually have some IHG cashback on top too
