Looking at flights a few months down the track, Qantas has adjusted the future departure times of what appears to be most (if not all) international flights out of SYD and MEL by 1 minute.

Seems very odd.

QF25 SYD/HND leaves at 8.56pm (instead of 8.55pm)
QF81 SYD/SIN leaves at 11.36am (instead of 11.35am)
QF1 SYD/SIN leaves at 3.51pm (instead of 3.50pm)
QF11 SYD/LAX leaves at 10.21am
QF35 MEL/SIN leaves at 12.51pm

Why bother?

Seems like an efficient way to trigger the cancellation of no doubt thousands of frequent flyer tickets that won’t be re-ticketed in time…..
They're QF flights I imagine, so not likely to be an issue.

Got mine reticketed 15 min after receiving the change of schedule email. I am wondering if they will bring back the time to the normal schedule.

I got one of these emails a few month (so not related to this issue) - the change was 5 minutes. The email said "I didn't need to do antyhing" - but do I need a new ticket number? And should I chase it up? These are reward tickets that are showing in "My Bookings" etc, but now I"m concerned that a new ticket is required?

I would not have expected a 1 min departure time change would require a re-issue of the ticket. It used to be the case that tickets could be revalidated for minor changes where the flight number and date remains the same. If these flights are requiring a ticket re-issue, then I suggest you might be well advised to verify any previous seat allocations as they may have cancelled and then reinstated the flight which may reset all seating for the flight. This can also happen if there is a change of aircraft type which then reverts back to the original type and all seat allocations are reset (which does not require ticket re-issue).

Aha! that explains why I got a flight change alert for QF11 but the times were EXACTLY the same between old flight and new flight. I had a minor panic and thought uh oh they've subbed 380 again. This makes some kind of (weird) sense I guess (though I never got any notification or indication of a minute change earlier, just an email and no app alert as to flight details having to change. but they hadn't). lol

phew I will rest a little easier now.. until I'm sitting on the elephant over the pacific :D

no reissue so far and the old eticket numbers still seem valid when checking on Qatar's web site
