$4,800 Etihad MEL/SYD to Copenhagen Business Class

I was just doing some open date searches on Google Flights and came across it. Unfortunately the dates don't work for me, which is a shame because I wouldn't have minded spending some quality time in the first class lounge in AUH!!

These are ‘value’ fares, but worth noting that they still come with lounge access unlike some other unbundled fares.

Miles earn to say VA would be 1.3 velocity points per mile. do gold and plat get their bonus on top of that?

It looks like 25% bonus for Gold and 50% for Platinum. Value fare still earns full business SCs too according to Virgin website. No chauffeur in AUH included in value fares for anyone looking at the flights with an overnight stopover.

not bad! so a platinum would get roughly 40k points, which is roughly 3 x one way SYD-MEL/BNE… or around $900 value. Makes the fare very attractive!

Best business class? My experience there was really disappointing :( it was a pretty average lounge I thought compared to some like Cathay’s Pier.
Yeah, that’s probably pushing it. The J lounge is nice if you have it to yourself but it was always heaving when I was there. The F lounge is good, but not in the league of DXB or DOH (or QF F SYD, CX F HKG).

It‘s been a few years for me but onboard, J service plus F&B was hit and miss. Although I did have an exceptional Op Up to F once flying CDG-AUH.

Has anyone had any luck booking this? I have tried multiple times and various dates over 2 hours tonight and the Payment screen goes around in circles. Sometimes it just goes nowhere and other times it takes me through to my bank's secure process and then goes back to Payment screen. No issues with either card tried from bank end.

Called EY contact centre and I was being told that the fare does not exist, they cannot get it in their system and could not even get it on website. Am being told it must be an error hence why payment does not work and it has been referred to the website team.

Certainly came up for me in last hour SYD-CPH-SYD for many dates in August for about $A5000, with connections via SAS and KLM and Air France for the short leg.

This on Etihad website. Odd it would not ticket - did not try, as in Samoa in August, and any other later month would have worked!

$5000 is hardly an 'error fare'

A good find if it tickets. :D

Thanks - it was without a doubt coming up for me when I searched, with available seats across multiple dates in October and November. The pattern is it is an outbound on a Monday or Tuesday.

After I posted and spoke with EY, one of my many aborted attempts seemed to have worked as I got an email with a PNR and a link to a payment portal. With deep suspicion I clicked the link and voila! I managed to ticket it.

Unfortunately it was not quite the itinerary/ routing I wanted so let's see if they'll place nice and let me switch to what I was actually trying to book (which they have screenshots of).

As an FYI for anyone else looking at it - I found good availability outbound ex SYD but had to do multi-city and come back into MEL as there was no availability in Nov inbound for SYD.

Helpful @Milboo ... I couldn't find it over weekends for the dates I was searching in Sept/Oct

This seems to be the last dates for that fare. None others coming up for later at the moment ….
