Annoying - I'd have made the P in PG by this time next month! :(

Hi guys

So can anyone confirm this offer?

- standard Earth card with 10k points and waived fee
- gold Earth card with 15k points only
- platinum Earth card with 25k points only

Is this right? do either gold or platinum come with waived credit card annual fees for the first year?

Thanks

Sorry to go off-topic, but I received another interesting piece of info along with my offer, which was that Qantas points held after July 2010 will no longer expire after 3 years, as long as there is any account activity.

Was there another thread to discuss this?

I received an offer for 40K points with $250PA fee.

Earth Platinum - Earn 40,000 extra Qantas Frequent Flyer Points
Exclusive offer for Platinum Qantas Frequent Flyer members. Apply by 31 January 2010, be approved1, and you’ll get 40,000 extra Qantas Frequent Flyer points when you spend three times or more on your new Earth Platinum cards by 28 February 20101.

Has anybody tried using a promo code that was not targeted to them? e.g. Plat promo when you only got offered Gold promo.

Since some posters were so kind as to post promo codes for the 25k offer, I think it would be a shame to not use it if I could get a way with it! I am just a little scared to try without someone else saying they have already :oops:

I'm not sure if it's worth trying that on, as you may end up with a credit card (and attendant annual fees) that you don't want - I spoke with Westpac and they confirmed that the relevant promo only applies according to your QF status as at 14 December 2009, and requires that you have personally received an offer.

Bit annoying not to have arranged SC crediting to QF earlier, this is the second Earth promo we've lost out on! Oh well, them's the breaks. :)

I'm already earth Platinum so I am expecting the annual fee anyways. Being a lowly Bronze I was offered the 10K bonus. Of course, if I could somehow finagle the 25k then it would make the $250 annual card fee that I might be paying in Jan (unless I get a waiver which normally I do ;) ) worth it.

I am just concerned I might get in to trouble for being cheeky :oops:

If you're already Earth Platinum, you wouldn't have received the offer. I'm pretty sure they're wise to that (the person I spoke to confirmed it).

It's disappointing that QF status rather than credit rating determines the size of the bonus (unlike last year) but that seems to be that.

10,000 points for 'free' is not a terrible deal though.

I'm PS so got the offer for Gold Card at 15K points and $125. But was cheeky and applied for the Platinum at 25K and annual fees waived (I think). I'll let you guys know if the points do come through by 30 April 2010. Fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, I don't believe the annual fee is waived for the Platinum offer. I believe the annual fee is only waived for the standard Earth card (offered to QFF Bronze members).

Yep, $250 annual fee for the Platinum. For 40K bonus points I think that's reasonable value.

So in summary

10k Earth with fee waived for Qantas Bronze code EAAF5 Earth or code EAAFZ Earth;

15k Earth Gold with no fee waived for Qantas Silver code EAAF6 Earth Gold or EAAF2 Earth Gold;

25k Earth Platinum with no fee waived for Qantas Gold code EAAF3 (does anybody have the web address?); and

40k Earth Platinum with no fee waived for Qantas Platinum code EAAF8 Earth Platinum or EAAF4 Earth Platinum.

Correct. As I mentioned I was offered the 10k point offer only. Since I last posted on this subject it seems like some others may have managed to claim on other offers not targeted at them (which is what I wanted to test). It does appear though that you have to pay the card fee however and that, I am not prepared to do. Maybe.

10,000 points for 'free' is not a terrible deal though.

Agreed, but it was worth trying for more!

Merry Christmas everyone :D

25k Earth Platinum with no fee waived for Qantas Gold code EAAF3 (does anybody have the web address?);

Found it... type 'special' at the end of the address (I still can't post links yet)

It seems that the 25k bonus QFF points offered to SG does not include an annual fee waiver. Considering that WP gets 40k bonus points, it seems SG are getting a raw deal in comparison.

I'm PS so got the offer for Gold Card at 15K points and $125. But was cheeky and applied for the Platinum at 25K

I got cold feet and decided not to activate my card and will be canceling it soon (the annual fee isn't charged until the first purchase). Though my feet would have been warmer if I knew about the 40k points before I applied ;p

Applied for, and received, the 10K offer and a limit of $7,300. They could not apply the promo to a product switch and had to do a whole new app so I now have a Plat and a standard card with a combined limit just over $30k!

I may well make my 3 qualifying purchases with 'bluey', wait for my 10k bonus and keep my Plat for it's better points accumulation ratio :cool:

i am a silver member and am about to apply for the 15k and the 125 fee.
Did i need to be particuarly targeted for this offer or should i be ok to do it online?

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I managed to negotiate a deal last week that some of you might want to know about:
Platinum Earth, no annual fee year 1 + 5k QFF points.

Instead of calling the Earth salespeople, I called the Westpac credit card department directly. I told them I knew about the 10k + no fee campaign for the basic Earth card (I am QFF Bronze), and asked what better deal they could offer me if I opened a new Platinum card instead. I was happily surprised when they offered to waive my first annual fee and also give me 5k miles!
