But, the transaction will be charged by Paypal. (I've used this type of checkout before - and Paypal appears on the bank statement).
Eg: PAYPAL , *<company name> , <transaction number> <amount>

I still don't see how AA can track that via their usual methods.

How is it different if PayPal do it versus an payments engine provided by Citi or even ANZ egate? I don't know how they track it but just because the transaction is acquired by Paypal does not make it any harder is my point, as its not like it goes through your PayPal account.

I give up. Congrats on getting your points (if they ever post). Explaining why and how this is unlikely to work is beyond my caring.

How did you get on?

I guess the point is moot anyway. Mal is probably right in thinking that the link has been taken down because the charity would have been making a loss on all the little donations if they had to fork out 1100 AA miles for each one. Would the points have posted through a PayPal transaction anyway? Dunno. Looks like we'll never find out for sure. But not to worry, it's all just a game.

So how is everyone going with reaping in their miles?

Best update I can find is that the transactions didn't "track" and a manual claim might be needed.

Shock. Horror. How surprising the transactions didn't track....

Not sure that anyone on this forum managed to get their credit cards registered before the link disappeared. I too would be interested to find out how it went from anyone who managed to make the "donation."
