AFF Review: Turkish Airlines A350-900 Economy Class (GRU-EZE)

Thanks Matt. This is why I've been hanging out for TK to come to Australia. I've travelled on them on a number of short haul, but never long haul. And looks like the pricing ex Australia is great, too.

@AFF Editor , out of interest, what languages were used for the safety video and then cabin announcements?

The safety video and manual cabin announcements were in Turkish and English. On this flight the automated announcements were in Turkish, English and (European) Spanish.

As it happens, the flight attendant serving my section also happened to have a German flag on his name tag. I told him that was my preferred language and he happily served me in German for the rest of the flight.

Yes, please sour cherry juice - hopefully freshly pressed and not from concentrated.

I'm sorry, but I'm not a huge fan of TK long haul J. I find the seats to be quite small and uncomfortable (on the 787 at least) and I find some male flight attendants to be bordering on rude. Just my experience on several flights. I wouldn't go out of my way to book another TK flight.

On the other hand, I find that short haul fights eg IST-MAN (which I'm flying in a couple of weeks) are generally above average for Europe.

Theirs is the same as SQ 787 seats right?
I have tried the SQ version and it was indeed tight! I'm not a big person at all
Although SQ use it on shorter distance so very acceptable. Over 10 hours maybe not...

recently flew from Melbourne to Singapore on Turkish A350 in Business. Night flight. Not particularly impressive I'm afraid. Seat (Row 1) is cramped and not comfortable for the length of flight. Food ok, but No options on timing.

Welcome to posting on AFF. Anything else you can tell us? Didn't happen to photograph the menu, by any chance?

flight was scheduled 10.20p.m. No PJs or seat topper. If I remember rightly - you can probably tell it wasn't that memorable - the Ravioli dish had all gone ! I had the Lamb chops which were pretty small, and to her credit the crew member whipped me up some other mushroom pasta to compensate.

Hmmm That's pretty disappointing re the bed situation. I was looking forward to catching TK to Europe next year but won't if that's the situation.

Sorry to go off topic @Mattg - you'll have to do a TK business review soon :)

Have recently flown Turkish and are on a A350 next week and cannot fault the planes or service . The new Airport in Istanbul is super and easy to navigate

After just completing a J return flight on their a350 from Europe to BKK here is my two cents worth. The seats are cramped and the service is very hit and miss from food to being greeted. We had a mattress topper on the way over but not going back. The new airport is too big by the time you walk 20 minutes to the lounge you soon have to leave to your connection. And as for their new business lounge there was nowhere to sit and it was so dirty inside. The only upside is their domestic business seats flying inter Europe are great. If I was stuck at this price point I would rather fly MAS or Air Vietnam from Australia. I hope this helps. Oh and fighting to get your *alliance points posted….Oi Veh 😢

I've flown TK business class several times and have always been very happy. Great service. Food and drink very nice. The new airport is big, I agree, but very manageable and well sign posted. I also found the J lounge clean and well serviced. Delicious food placed in several locations, with alcoholic drinks on discreetly placed trolleys. No USB points though, so remember to take an adaptor to use in the power points.

I will NEVER book TK again from Perth, as the connecting airlines are hit and miss. I would rather fly to Melbourne and board TK there! Or book QF or Scoot to SIN to board TK. I used my Kris Flyer membership number and points were credited quite quickly.

It looks like Turkish Airlines long-haul business class is a bit of a polarising experience! ;)

I just flew with Turkish Airlines from Europe to Bangkok this week, in J, and will have a review of that experience coming out soon.
