Wow - that is a good run. I am tempted to try to put together some extra flights into a DONE4 if I can wangle that to get to the UK next year for a meeting...

I suspect you'd need to get a TA involved. That is one *heck* of a run!
FYI there are other (less arduous) good value runs available along similar lines to this one; I've most recently booked one at AUD $2.10 / SC. It seems that the domestic runs have mostly gone the way of the dodo, but there is value to be had in some international runs still..

I wonder what the travel dates are.

Maybe I'm also looking up the wrong classes and/or the wrong sector arrangements on the multi-city.

I've tried June and April next year without too much success, as well as the routing arrangements of BOS-AUS-MIA-GIG and BOS-ORD-IAH-GIG without success - all of them yield standard multi-thousand dollar fares.

Noticed the same thing myself - it's not a fare that's bookable online it would seem.

Change your departure to LGA or JFK. The best I have done is USD 529 each way!

Now I just need a special to get over there!

You could points it over there if you're only after the SCs.

Apart from that, what routing pattern did you use?

So it would seem that one would have to talk to AA over the phone for a while? I can't imagine doing the whole trial-and-error approach thing with a phone operator....that'd just be asking for trouble...

Yeah, I know that I could use points but given my lack of QF this year I am seriously bereft of ~'s

To be honest the only way I have been successful is just through the AA front page and ticking "flexible dates" then searching the dates. 3rd Jan to 13 Jan was ok.

This though only gives around the 400 SC mark.

*C on JQ from any port other than SYD will net you the 4 ~ for a return trip to HNL.

Agreed, unless you can maximise this to the full segment count then it is not worth it.

I was also considering South America for two weeks in Jan anyway so to tie in an SC run would be interesting.

I couldn't replicate that fare in Sabre out of BOS (kept running into a 'max combinations exceeded' error), but managed to successfully price it out of LGA. An arduous itinerary indeed involving lots of early wake up calls, but I'll refine it if I actually want to do it. You'd be right so long as every connection is under 24 hrs.

Fare basis IRT, AA domestic segments book into A, AA MIA-GRU-MIA in I, and GRU-GIG-GRU on JJ in M.

Found LGA-MCO-MIA-GIG return around Anzac Day next year for USD 1135.70 inc. taxes.

LGA-MCO-MIA are in A but MIA-GIG is in I. Option also to go via TPA rather than MCO.

By my calculations - hopefully correct - the return journey is 540 SC; converting the USD fare into AUD at the rate in XE at the time of this post and adding a 3% conversion charge, the final SC rate comes to AUD 2.5824 per SC.

I've got some single day return trips that nett SC's around $2.54AUD/sc relatively easily (I'd rather not post them in here as I don't want AA to cotton on - if anyone wants to know, IM me).

SFO-LAX-LAS return used to be good for around $400USD for 240SC's (did 2 runs of that in March) but they're gone now.

Whilst the cost per SC can be low, the overnight accommodation on some of these runs combined with the risk of a misconnection, it makes more sense for me to do a few runs on the same segments.

Today I booked online for USD895 a 520 SC run.

There's lots similar to this (although maybe not of such a good SC earning rate) if you are look at journeys between USA and central/South America or the Caribbean.
