Cool - good spot. Shame it's not as good as last year (20% i think) or the current 30% with Virgin Atlantic/BA but I have 110k MR points which will transfer nicely into my Velocity account :)

Wow - check this too for people with Platinum/Ascent Premium :

American Express Cardmembers enrolled in Membership Rewards Ascent Premium will receive 30% bonus Velocity Points and 100 Status Credits. Ascent Premium Cardmembers will receive the 30% bonus in two 15% increments within a week of the points transfer to the Velocity Account.

Result :)

Nice deal, but down from 20% last time and I'm pretty sure I've transferred at 25% before too. Anyway good time to clean out the commonwealth awards account.

Interesting, so I just transfer minimum amount of points and get 100 status credits?! Excellent!

EDIT: Noticed minimum transfer of 100K .... No thanks ....

Bugger!

For 10K points I would have done it, but now way for 100K.

interested why people wouldn't move 100k if they have them? or do you just want the flexibility to decide to put them in to something else?

Guess I always took the card knowing that all my points would go into Veloicty or Virgin Atlantic so for me it's an easy decision - just need to choose which - same 30% for Virgin Atlantic but living in Oz, Velocity is probably more usefl for me, and the 100 SC's is a nice bonus

If I had 100K MR points, I'd be fare more likely to turn 80K of them into 50K AAdvantage miles or
apd_symbol_blk.gif
1000 for AirNZ - for me they are far more useful than 115,000 Velocity and 100 DJ SC's.

YMMV.

Do you have a link. I need to work out what platinum cards are eligible.

Sent from the Throne (80% chance) using Aust Freq Fly app

Djchuckles,

For me it depends where the points are. If they are with Commbank I like moving them to Velocity and usually do so when a bonus offer comes along. With Amex MR points I love the flexibility of transferring only when I need to and keeping the points in the flexibility of having multiple transfer partners.

I am still trying to figure out whether 80K CX AM or 50K AA miles are better ...... Need to do some reading over the weekend.

But one thing I know is that both would be better than 80K QFF!

Too right!

(Of course, YMMV on this too - there may be the odd case where the exception may prove the rule.)

I want to do it, very tempting as the extra 100SC could help me maintain platinum, but not being able to use points to upgrade internationally, or redeem flights plus cash and still earn status makes me not do it

Yes I really wish VA would do this, it's the one thing that QF really have over them. I'll keep sending my Amex points to QF as long as they gives SCs/points for xASAs, and VA don't.

Swings and roundabouts, I see DJ as earning points simply because their net cost is lower than QF after you take off the points earned, now that just leaves SC earn, unlike QF, DJ offer bonus SCs on financial products such as credit card apps!

Though from the experience of many here you really earn the SCs when applying for the Virgin CC.
