Generally children aren't allowed in lounges without supervision.

As opusman said, they are going to have issues, especially in the USA

From DL

Individuals must be at least 18 years of age for Club membership or access without a responsible, supervising adult.Must be 21 years of age to access Clubs with a self-service bar, unless accompanied by a responsible, supervising adult who is also a Club member. Local age restrictions apply in non-US locations.

I would have thought the easy solution is find a random adult passenger in the terminal and invite them into the lounge. Problem solved :)

probably won't work ..

I wouldn't be allowing my 15 yo to travel solo half way around the world in the first place. Obviously my thoughts and bank balance differ to yours because no way could I afford to fly j or f anyway

Award J so no prob there and USA F better than Y- + 3 pcs luggage.

hmmmm... a random kid finding a random adult to invite them into the lounge....the legal ramifications are screaming out at me (as well as the legal fraternity) .... the days of innocent trust disappeared years ago...after litigation for everything raised its ugly head

I must be naive (and not a lawyer). What could possibly be illegal in this situation? Is it the stranger danger aspect? Its not like they are doing to shower together. Get into the lounge and go your separate ways. Everyone is a winner.

Yeah if a random 16 came up to me and said 'I'll pay for you to get in if you take me to this bar' I would say no!!

Ahh...I didn't realise the entire lounge was classified as a bar. Figured age checks on alcohol would be done if and when required when served. That didn't even occur to me. Ooops! :)

Although a little OT I always find this attitude a little strange. I probably took 30+ international flights by myself when under the age of 18 going to/from school, as did many others, I never heard of any problems with it. I also never had any problem getting in to the lounges, always dressed respectively and never partook in the bar when underage.

And in the past for some reason both QF and VA and long ago TAA would seat unaccompanied minors next to me.The world changes.

How young do you look for your age? I am young and look younger (see HSP Schoolies sell out thread to see what I mean) However I have never been asked for ID upon entering any lounge and I travel to quite a few mentioned frequently. Occasionally I am asked for ID if I approach the bar/ alcohol but as long as I stay away from alcohol I have never been asked to prove my age. If all else fails, just try your luck with your boarding pass?

Flamesuit on...... I deal with missing children nearly daily in my work, and I find the blaze` attitude shown here about trying to get a 15/16yo into a licenced premise whilst travelling half way around the world solo to be appalling.

My view is that I would rather the 16 and 15 yr old be in a lounge than roaming the airport. Obviously it requires the 16/15 yr old to have a certain maturity. But a lounge is the safest place in an airport to be in my opinion.
