18 hours between flights at Changi Airport

Thank you all. There are 4 of us travelling together so must consult. I don't think we can alter the flight but worth asking. From Frankfurt we go to Budapest so we would have a layover there unless we alter flight again and then we hit the check in time at the Gellert Hotel in Budapest.

In any case, a sleep somewhere will be on the cards for sure. Beyond that , we will see.

I have never been there but for each of the four of us, there was one absolutely must do experience. So, this was the one my friend wanted. I wanted the Loire Valley, one of us wanted the East Highland train to Mallaig and the fourth wanted the Peaks District. So we are doing all of it. Should be a wonderful 7 weeks. Quite literally the dreams of a life time.

Some of the rooms at the Gellert can be a little 'drab', but the public areas are amazing. You probably already know this... but hotel guests have access via a private lift to the hot pools as soon as they open... which was 6am (not sure if that's changed, it's been a few years since I was there). You can have about 15 minutes a total peace and quiet before outside patrons have time to get changed and enter the pool area. Very relaxing. Unless this has all changed... you can wear normal bathing gear in the hot pools... the thin cloth they provide you is otherwise somewhat intimidating (covering only the front and not the rear!).

The pool is closed for renos until August, as is the cactus garden. It's all gone cactus...

Ditto, T1 transit hotel and pool is closed for renovations and they hiked the rates for the other T2 & T3 transit hotels $30 per 6 hours which has a ton of cheaper hotels landslide.

One can stay airside if they make the informed choice that they will enjoy it equally, however personally for more than 8 hours, a private hotel room to snooze of you like is well worth it.

My friend wants to be at the Gellert but I will probably spend the whole 4 days in the pool - my aching arthritic joints are longing and counting every hour til I get there.
