Hello everyone,

This is my first question and I'd love some suggestions.

My wife and are travelling from Sydney to Helsinki in a couple of months.

We will arrive into Hong Kong around 6am in the morning and won't catch our Helsinki flight out until just after midnight so will have the whole day plus some in Hong Kong.

We have been to Hong Kong a few times over the years so are familiar with getting around however is it possible to leave our luggage at the airport and then collect it again that night prior to continuing our journey?

FYI, Sydney to Hong Kong is on Qantas Business then Hong Kong to Helsinki is on Finnair Business.

Many thanks,

Yes you can leave the baggage. Can't recall the name. You have to pay for it but it is very safe to do so. I think they charged $200 HKD for 7-8 hrs when i used them last time

If you can check the bags through, that would be a lot easier. However, even with checked through bags, I usually still end up with one hand baggage (eg laptop) that I want to not carry around with me.

At Hong Kong Airport, there are two left luggage areas. One is a self coin operated one near the train station... you sort of go under the train platform and it is half way between two terminals. Sometimes there is a person there who can help you. Sometimes there is not.

If that does not help, there is a manned left luggage counter at Central station. This is manned and what I use when I can't use the airport one. It is a bit difficult to find as all the different exits can be confusing. IIRC, it was in between Exit A and B.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Seems the train to Central then up the peak plus the ferry and a little shop down Nathan Road for Lunch, Maybe the light show then back out to the airport for the flight to Helsinki.

Does anyone know what lounge Finnair use for business?

Thanks again for all your suggestions.

You can use any one world lounge, which is a big benefit at HKG, otherwise if you are really keen they use the Dragonair Lounge, G16: Dragonair - At The Airport : Hong Kong International Airport > G16 Lounge, Hong Kong

or visit the outlets..
Citygate Outlets - the only outlet shopping mall in Hong Kong located on Lantau Island
It is in Tung Chung, which is the next suburb to HKIA.

Which is a 3$HK bus ride from the airport......
Also note that the train to/from Tung Chung to Central is 18$HK not the 50-->100  that they want from the airport.

The best part of the shopping mall is the HK style food court (outside and up to 2nd floor) or the sandwich shop in the basement grocery store. The top floor (with walk way to the hotel) has a largish coffee shop with "views" But then I am past the age of desiring name brand "trainers" and can easily walk past the outlet stores

Happy wandering

Fred
