1Cover - requiring pre-payment / going hard on pre-existing conditions?

Potentially issues. There could have been questions about who was driving.

Presumably there would have had to have been some kind of statement provided to police almost immediately. Would imagine very few people would perjer themselves by lying about who was driving. So likely the cost involved in doing their own investigations far outweighs any savings from the odd person caught out. Not the case with a second Dr opinion.

Anyway I’m glad you had a good experience but don’t be fooled into thinking insurance companies are actually there for the customer and don’t play dirty. They are scum. But unfortunately necessary when faced with risk that could result in devastating financial or health consequences.

Not surprising that Luigi guy indicted for murder of that CEO of that health insurance company in the US has gained significant public support. The words "delay, deny, defend" was written on the bullets and he wrote about the industry in his "manifesto"

100% correct! Until you have to claim something significant you are just going off the fantasy of peace of mind that insurance companies love to spin. When it hits the fan you will very likely have to fight like hell to get the right outcome. But that’s part of the business model - screw people as much as possible because likely most will just accept it. 🤬

Does anyone think for a second that the couple in this story (and now members of the forum) would have got 1Cover to pay without involving the media?
I have no doubt 1Cover would have been ducking and weaving to find a reason to refuse the claim without our media intervention.

We carry it on now to get them to change their practices. Tonight’s Media Watch on ABC shine a light on their dodgy marketing practices (second story after the oxygen water).
