1K Unrequited KrisFlyer Miles

SHMBO has 2K KrisFlyer miles, 1K of which expire next week. These were garnered from some promos.

It irks to lose them but I can not see how to reasonably avoid it.

Can transfer 3K in from CC rewards and on transfer 5K to Velocity, thus getting 2750 Velocity. But we could also transfer that 3K directly to Velocity.

We will not be transferring 6K Velocity in and transferring 5300 back to end up with 2915 points.

Other than transferring many more and booking a flight just not to lose them at a cost far greater than simply having 1K expire currently having no planned flights I see no option

Any suggestions other than giving the 1K miles a memorial service?

The other option, less useful in Australia than in Singapore is download the Kris+ app and transfer them to become Kris+ credit. 1000 pts is about $6.50 AUD in value.

In the end we booked some accommodation that was going to be booked anyway. It ended up a few dollars cheaper, plus the 1K points resulted in a further reduction of $11.40.

I go through a similar exercise every other year on what to do with expiry KF miles.
Weirdly enough, I have only ever redeemed Krisflyer for nonsense in their store, or using the cash+miles slider at around 1.1c per point value.

SQ the airline gets a lot of praise for airline stuff but nobody really talks about how pathetic Krisflyer is for your every-day flyer!

We really use Kris Miles to get first class and business class flights for our redemption nominees so their value is more than 4 cents per mile used. I can see many don’t get this result.

Yeah; that 3-year hard expiry is a real PITA for a lot of members.
