1st Cricket Test: Aust v Sth Africa @ The Gabba

It looks like a washout tomorrow with 50mm of rain expected. I know it can come down quickly in Brisbane and the Gabba drains well, but not good.

Spitting now, but merely a passing cloud. Great drainage at the Gabba, so let's see what happens

RSA doing rather well - nearly 200 and only 2 wickets down. We'll be lucky to dismiss them tomorrow, and we haven't even considered the mid-order.

Only consolation is if Australia can equally take advantage of the pitch during their batting spell.

Kallis just got caught off Siddle.

Checking the no ball rule and has been upheld by the umpire. No part of Siddle's foot was behind the line. Booooo

Did a double take reading that ...

Guess you could read it either way. :p After all, I'm sure Mrs LW would not be happy to greet her hubby smelling like cheap beer.

Is Australia going to bat in this test?

Doesn't look the strongest attack, but if Pattinson and Siddle fire...who knows?
On cricinfo Siddle was referred to as someone who gets tired cricketers out.

Lose the coughiness and try to play cricket....

To save time, we bought double beers for the last shout. The crowd number has been announced but I am having trouble sending - too many people on the network.

I'll post the photos when I can.

Game cut short due to light. Will post when I get home

Mr Katie was there, too. Walked home. Had a good day, even if the game wasn't enthralling.

Would I be a pessimist to say we will probably lose this test and go 1 down in the 3 match series?

I think weather is going to ensure a draw.

I hope the Australian batting is more positive if given a chance to bat.

Australia haven't lost at the GABBA since.... ??? (LW?) So maybe call it a draw. But at day one thats a bit early... Especially if uncle meteorologist has any influence
