Hi,

Im wanting to book some flights from Melbourne to coughet. Departure date is flexible +/- 4 days but ideally around the 22nd of July 2015, return date sometime after the 1st of August.

I have 300,000 velocity points (will soon be 350,000 with a Amex offer) but not sure if they would be best used on this trip or saved for a U.S or Europe trip? I can also purchase U.S Airways dividend miles with their latest offer.

Ideally Id like J class but would also consider economy on full service airline as with more travel to Europe also planned Im trying to keep that in mind for the possible use of the velocity points.

Cheers :)

Hi bean,

As you probably already know there are no direct services. My suggestion would be keeping the points for Europe, and pay the cash fare for Jetstar. Out 21 July and back 4 August is $2311pp in business. Next best is China Southern at $3,256... That's almost $1,000 per person cheaper. Same fare is available with the 24 Jul-7 Aug dates. Both outbound and return sectors are via Sydney.

good luck finding something suitable.
