Setting the scene. A perfect sunny day in Sydney. Circular Quay ferries have been stopped at 9pm on a Friday night. QM2 moves to the middle of Circular Quays and cranks up Rod Stewart "I am sailing" to the max on the outside decks. People lining the shore from the OPT to the Quays and the Opera House hearing the music. Perfect.
When speaking to some crew members later on they rated it as one of the best sail ways in the world (and these guys have pretty much seen them all!)
The crew who man the tender boats (actually, all the unseen people who make the ships run for us passengers) do amazing jobs in sometimes really difficult circumstances. As we left the tender port of Cairns a large tropical storm arrived (this one swept down the eastern coast of Australia). Passengers were not onboard the lifecraft at this time.

This was a welcome to Hong Kong Port - the new port in Hong Kong is at the Old Airport - it was a nice welcome but the Port needs some major infrastructure improvements.
Well, I am off on an Adriatic cruise in 5 weeks (Venice - Dubrovnik - Corfu - Santorini - Ephesus - Istanbul) and am then planning an Alaskan trip for July 2015.
I do like the QM2 though and she is circumnavigating New Zealand next year. . And there is a transatlantic on the list too.
