What are you going to do with your MR points John?... maybe this warrants a seperate thread but I'm really struggling to work out what to do. VS looks like its crossed off the list along with AirNZ and Velocity so far for me....
For the time being I will be using Amex MR points for SQ redemptions SYD-BKK (as long as the 15% online discount continues) or even SYD-HKG with RJ tag flights HKG-BKK.

I don't mind travelling WHY (could change my mind after upcoming SQ flights) and I have enough Amex MR points for 6 returns SYD-BKK and at 2 trips a year is enough for SYD-BKK returns through to Christmas 2012.

Interesting comments re availability as I was looking to move some points to take advantage of this offer. I've never had problems with seat options before so the comments made me think twice. Trying to get flights just after xmas SYD-HKG and back in January for any class seems a lost cause, but its not a lot different on Qantas.

My other suitable time was Nov and there is availability in every class, for 3 adults and a toddler.

BTW does anyone know what the deal is when a toddler is <2yrs flying out and over 2 flying back, as far as fares go? Someone told me once it depends on the airline, as long as they were <2 on the first leg of the trip it was ok, can anyone shed some light on this?

Virgin Atlantic award booking system has been fixed. The availability has come back for the next 10 months.

Oh great, thanks for letting us know - will go and have a look now just to be sure.

Funnily enough I got a rubbish response from Virgin saying nothing was wrong and bad luck. Very helpful customer service as usual.... mmm

Thans for the tip.

Will go ahead and check VS availability for June 2010 although hoping to purchase 46,750 SQ miles from a friend for ~$400. He is more than likely to let the miles expire anyway so best make good use of them....
