Is this a new benefit of the Virgin Money Velocity High Flyer credit card? I haven't seen it before.

Looks like you now get 20% bonus status credits on VA flights paid for using the card, capped at 100 per year.

Up to 100 Bonus Status Credits each year

This one's for the high flyers. Simply purchase and fly on an eligible Virgin Australia flight and you'll get rewarded with up to 100 Status Credits each year.

Here are the T&Cs:

The Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer Card Bonus Status Credits Benefit is a Special Feature available to Primary Cardholders only. An additional 20% Bonus Status Credits will be awarded when you fly on an Eligible Virgin Australia Flight and meet eligibility criteria being: a) a flight purchased using your Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer Card directly with Virgin Australia (via Virgin Australia website, Virgin Australia Call Centre or Virgin Australia App); b) the Virgin Australia flight is eligible to earn Status Credits; c) your Velocity membership number was provided against the booking at the time of purchase or before your date of travel; d) at the time of booking, purchasing and taking the flight, your credit card account must be open and in good standing (for example – your account is not in default, suspended or closed). The amount of Bonus Status Credits is capped at 100 Bonus Status Credits each credit card anniversary year. Status Credit earn is subject to the fare type and distance travelled. We will allocate Bonus Status Credits within 2 months of the allocation of your base Status Credits to your Velocity Program account. See Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer Card Bonus Status Credits Benefit Terms & Conditions for full details and definitions.

Has anyone got experience of earning/receiving the bonus SC? States that take up to 60 days to be awarded. Do they tend to arrive at/close to that time? I’m at 60 days today, and nothing as of yet.

Does anyone know if you get the bonus SC for flights booked by a travel agent? By the T&Cs it would seem no. Work uses a third party agent, but payment is always processed by Virgin/Qantas so I wonder what the mechanism for awarding bonus SC is - interested to hear from anyone who has experienced first hand.

I had this exact issue - booked flights with my card through corporate travel agent. So showed up on my statement as VA purchase but they wouldn’t award SC as third party involved. I disagree with that interpretation, can understand if you’re booking via Expedia for example, as that’s what shows on statement.
