Got some flights in early May on AA around LOTFAP. Will I have problems trying to gain access to AA lounges because I'm under 21?? (Have complimentary QP access until end May)

cheers gogo

You'll be fine. The Admirals Club is open to anyone over 18

Membership

Membership is open to all persons 18 years of age or older.

You won't of course be able to drink there (if they ask for ID of course).

ok. Cheers for that! I was just looking on QF website and they had 21 as minimum age to gain access.. I have no intention of trying to get a sneaky drink in.. Not at all worth the risk!?

You can walk up to the bar and ask. The worst they can do is say no ;)

Wonder if the excuse of "Oh sorry, I'm just used to having a drink before I fly outside of LOTFAP" would fly with the police lol.

Exactly my thoughts!! I don't want to have something on the system that makes it a pain in the cough to enter LOTFAP for the rest of my life.. ;)

You are very likely to have issues gaining access. Before I turned 21 I had issues on several occasions at AA Clubs and OneWorld lounges in the USA. I always fought the issue and always got in but it was a hassle on several occasions. If there is an issue ask for a manager and inform them that you have earned/bought the right to access the lounge and it is what you intend to do.

Thanks for the heads up Peabody. Hopefully will have no issues gaining access.. Will post back with info on what happens when I do try and access the lounges..

I think i will printout the AAdmirals Club membership T & C's.. And hopefully that helps if I do have any troubles..

Apparently US age restrictions for alcohol consumption are more relaxed in "private clubs or establishments". If you want a beer I guess you can only suck it and see.

Just a short reminder:
Drinking age in Germany is 16 for beer and wine and 18 for spirits. I just laugh about the fuss they make in the US.
I was asked for my ID in the US when I was 22 - living in Munich I had many years of Octoberfest and beer garden seasons.

Yes we are all drunk and die when we are older than 30 in this country!

Miss FM had no trouble getting into the Flagship lounge in T4 in LA last year on her own - no-one even raised age. She was connecting to a flight out of TBIT in F. She doesn't drink alcohol when flying, so didn't try and get anything. She was 20 at the time.

Cheers for the reply. I do not drink very often.. And just thought they may deny access on the fact that alcohol is available and I am underage to drink.. Anyway.. Seems like all will be fine.

thanks again to everyone..
