$200 "Dining credit" towards a list of Global Restaurants

Total noob question here: If i am travelling solo and spend < $200 at a restaurant does the leftover credit remain to be used on a future booking?

If it helps the $200 local credit worked that way for us. (Went out for breakfast and had a leftover that was credited towards the next breakfast)

From the T&C of the $200 dining credit:

"Enrolled Card Members will be eligible to receive a maximum of $200 back on spend at participating local restaurants per redemption period. Spend can be in one or more transactions."

The list of participating restaurants changes from time to time. Just noticed this year two restaurants I frequented in previous years are now participating, with credits applied a day or two after the spend. Wouldn't have known they became participating were it not for the credit, or you manually review the list.

I did The Alkaff Mansion last time.
Not as expensive but nice for a casual dining and drinks.
Restaurants in Raffle hotel is also good.

I put $200 on my amex and the rest on Citi debit card when overseas. Might as well pay 3% on the absolute minimum!!

Your best bet is any of the 'Sichuan Dou Hua' outlets for 'asian' cuisine - it's modern sichuan x cantonese.

There's a few japanese places on the list but they're all a bit so-so.

Odette is _fantastic_ but it's french and you'll have to topup another like $750 to complete the meal

We went to the Bees Knees in the Botanical Gardens in December 2022 with our kids. Haven't checked if it is still on the list.

Hilariously you can use it at the restaurant inside your hotle (Asian Market Cafe) - so might be worth a freebie meal or similar if you want.

Otherwise the other restaurants (https://www.americanexpress.com/en-sg/benefits/diningbenefit/) - again I'd say go Sichuan Dou Hua - it's kinda like yumcha but nice.

There should be a wide selection of things for your kids too.

PS. Bees Knees is still on the list, but it's up in the Botanic Gardens, bit of a trek unless you're already planning to go there (it's just a cafe)

Actually speaking of buffets - Basillico is on the list and that's one of the better buffet restaurants in Singapore. It's certainly worth it if you're used to what we Aussies tolerate as "buffets" in our casinos....

Well, I just had dinner at the Si Chuan Dou Hua and it was very nice. Came to $140 (for one).

Not sure it was 14 times better than the amazing hawker lunch I had earlier: meal, dessert and drink for the grand total of SGD 9.50 … but still very nice. And, if Amex comes through, free.

I was thinking of this until i saw it was halal, i'm not sure i'm willing to forgo bacon for the price you need to pay for breakfast there.

After not being able to use my $200 international dining credit the past 2 years I will finally get to use it this year in Paris.

I looked through the list of restaurants on the Amex website and there must be over 100 restaurants.

Does anyone have any recommendation? I'm not looking for ultra fine dining but rather traditional brasserie style dining.
