Thank you Virgin Australia for listening to us and our suggestions of improvement.
The new additions to the menu look great and are a big improvement on the lounge offering!

After two weeks in India the hotdog option looks really good:!:

Right now someone (anyone) else can have my share of the curry.

...... We are having Pizza tonight but I'm not sure how good a Pizza from Delhi will be :!:

Avoided the Delhi Belly, I hope....great for weight loss, tho. I hear!!:shock:

Sounds great! Pity my usual connecting flight gets in at BNE at 6:45... 15 minutes to get to the lounge and down as many burritos and hot dogs as I can manage! Hopefully they don't start putting things away before 7, or I may have to make up for it in Asahi :D

Outside of the 5-7pm window, what do the Lounges have in the way of food? Is it just the really light stuff like cheese, crackers and breads, or is there something more substantial?

I'm using a single entry pass this week for the first time since the VA rebranding and MEL refurb (before most likely buying a Lounge membership later this year) and will be checking it out around 2.30-4.30.

Cold meat, cheese etc and there will be a hot option, such as soup. I have noticed lately, there are some decent ready-made salads, such as a nice potato salad that goes well with the Turkish bread and a cous cous salad that is quite palatable.
But there won't be much in the way of hot options (unless you want the soup) at that time.

Melbourne breakfast has; Hard Boiled Eggs, Fruit, Stewed fruit (apricots etc), Yoghurt by the spoon, Muesli, Weetbix, Soy/Skinny/Boys Milk, Mini-mini Muffins, Ham, Cheeses, about 5 kinds of bread, including fruit toast. And you can reduce all of the above into about a half inch thick with the sandwich press.

The little demitasse of yoghurt and muesli is very popular.

A couple of kids of Juice, a pancake machine with sauces etc, a assortment of tea, and a barista to whip up a skinny decaf mocca or flat white.

Changes at 11am.

Awesome - sounds great!

Thanks guys!

Pretty keen to give it a whirl, I enjoyed it the last time I was there. Just wish that it was post-security - like everyone wishes :)

Typically was in the MEL lounge for a mid morning feed, so didn't get to enjoy any of it. However will be partaking of the the curry on Wednesday.
Is there any chance that there can be a choice of flexi meals? It's very annoying to have the same wrap/sandwich etc. on 2 flights back to back. Most times, I eat for lunch the next day!

Tried the Cantina the other night in SYD, was ok. Very filling. The tortillas had run out by that stage, and there were no tongs for the corn chips, but still was fine. I was in the lounge later than 7, so wasn't expecting any of it to be left.

Tried the Curry in BNE tonight. Seemed to be a Chicken Korma type of curry. Not really spicy. The rice that went with it was quite nice, but the pitas didn't really add anything to the meal.

Can anyone explain why the Toaster disappears early at night?

Oh, and I really, really detest the "French Onion" soup currently in rotation at BNE. Uggh.

We're also pleased to bring you a more premium wine selection to enjoy it with!

This quarter's selection is an all-Australian selection focusing on hero regions and offering boutique and big name brands - including Margan Rose, Capel Vale Sav Blanc, Knappstein Riesling, Phillip Shaw Chardonnay, Josef Chromy Pinot Noir, Pikes Shiraz, and Katnook Cab Sauv.

So what's the story with the "premium" wine selection?

I flew through Melbourne a couple of weeks ago and although there was a wine menu showing the nice Shiraz, there was only the absolutly dire Coonawarra Shiraz available ...

Yesterday afternoon I flew back from Canberra and the same Coonawarra Shiraz was all that was available.

I hope the plan isn't to horde the good stuff until the supplies of the Coonawarra is gone, because it's rubbish and I doubt it will ever run out!

similar to what sydney has except they will only put out one type of bread and raisin toast, even though the "Menu" lists several different types. I had to ask and was told "o im sorry we dont put that out in the morning. Pointed to the menu and was promptly told "Fine ill get you some"

not the best attitude!
