YESSSSSSSSS, that's what I'm talking about - second ball of the days play:

62.2 Hazlewood to Woakes, OUT, zipping through, is that caught behind... yes, given! But Woakes looks very doubtful and quickly reviews, it's close to the edge, no deviation... and no Hot Spot. But Snicko picks up a thin sound! The Barmy Army cheers quickly fall silent, as they realise this isn't going to be overturned. What a start for Australia, a wicket off the second ball!

Surely the fat lady is warming up her scales now.... :D

64.5 Hazlewood to Root, OUT, length and holding its line, another beauty of a ball and Root is gone! Is that the game...?He was slightly late on it and the pink just scratched the cue end, Australia knew, Aleem Dar knew and Root must have done, too. Hazlewood has picked up this game and smashed it on a rock!

I found out from previous years there are plenty of people that can't be near a TV with the cricket available (like me) but I can have a couple of tabs open and be sharing the fun as it happens using ESPN Cricinfo. The closest thing to being at the game - which also makes watching the highlights at night better, as I know what is about to happen with each wicket.

England require another 172 runs with 4 wickets remaining. Can YJB and Ali bat sufficiently to make a game of it?

Well I was a bit worried at close of play last night, but feeling a lot more comfortable now :D

Well it was only a momentary lapse in our batting yesterday, because our bowlers and fielding is top notch:

70.6 Lyon to Ali, OUT, tossed up, Moeen goes to sweep and is hit on the front pad... Up goes the finger! Australia are cough-a-hoop but Moeen delays their gratification by reviewing; this is going to be close but the margins are in Lyon's favour here. Sure enough, it's just in line (umpire's call) and just clipping the top of off (umpire's call) - and England are truly in the soup!

Aaaarrgh, Cameron Bancroft needs more fielding practice:

75.4 coughmins to Overton, no run, edged and dropped! A low edge to third slip, it carried comfortably, but Bancroft snatched at it, it hit the heels of his hands and into the turf

But nonetheless, congratulations to England for making it to 200 - maybe they'll get past their first innings score of 227

The cream is rising to the top....

80.1 Starc to Overton, OUT, first ball inswinger, thuds into the pad, and Starc strikes! Wow, who needs a sighter? Just perfect line and curling length from over the wicket. Overton had no answer as he propped forward hopefully but merely made his pad into target practice. England's challenge is all but cooked!

Broad, Bairstow and Anderson only need 148

Think that's the end of the resistance. Almost went the other way. Our fickle batting exposed again when one player does not make a score.

Got stuck on a phone call and saw these happens in front of my eyes:

82.6 Starc to Broad, OUT, outside off, full length, a thin edge, a low catch to the keeper. A valiant but sorry stay from a batsman who is a shadow of his former self
SCJ Broad c †Paine b Starc 8 (12b 0x4 0x6) SR: 66.66

84.2 Starc to Bairstow, OUT, and that is the end of that! Tighter line, back of a length, cramped for room, and inside-edged into middle stump!
JM Bairstow b Starc 36 (57b 5x4 0x6) SR: 63.15

Starc finishes with 5/88 in this innings.

Australia wins by 120 runs.

Now, who cares about not following on - the alternate plan worked.

Great test, while it ebbed and flowed England were never really in it.

Adelaide Oval really is a great venue to watch cricket at. Let's hope the new Perth Stadium is similar.

I was there for the whole test. My English visitor said yesterday was one of the best days test cricket he has seen. I’m very happy with the result - him not so much.

Do you enjoy always being so negative

I know that SACA was expecting a host of English guests in from Day 3. They were worried that by then it would have been red rover. But Day 4 would have been a ripper for them.

Negative? That's not negativity.

We keep papering over the cracks and when we bully someone weaker than us our arrogance grows exponentially.

The Fab 5 is almost history. They were our saviour 12 months ago. They are scoring heavily in shield but cannot do the same at test level.

Joe Root handed us that test on a platter. The DRS is heavily in our favour. And we almost blew it.

Yep. Negative.

DRS was brought in to remove howlers not cause them.

How do they continue to reverse not out decisions with inconclusive evidence? That was clearly not out.

Visible snick on the sound, and from the rear view it moved a piece of the glove.

Not sure why hotspot didn't show anything.

The English commentator is now convinced it was out

Like I said earlier. It’s based on an algorithm. In this case GI GO.
