Seeing though we've kicked off the 2017 thread. NOT actually attending Melbourne this year for the first time in 17 years. But i am sitting on top of the Pits in an airconditioned marquee, food and drinks watching the early sessions for Bathurst 12 hour. Bring on sunday i say.

Welcome to my beautiful home town.

Bring on the F1 though.

The wife and I are saving for Malaysia 2018, decided to do the once in a lifetime thing and paying for Paddock Club for the weekend. If you love it, what is cost????

HI Formula 12,
Love your home town. we will be back for sure for next year.
also i'm a Coeliac, and how Gluten Free is Bathurst, fantastic. i didn't get sick once.

For Malaysia, have a look at The Motorsport Shop | Luxury F1 | FORMULA Magazine | GPTravelClub
Pat Wedes runs tours for different F1's, he can line you up with tix. Corporate is pretty pricey over there, but it's fun!

on occassions when it's been difficult to book tix for overseas F1's, i've used Pat. He can even do flights/hotels etc as well, or just the tickets themselves. he's very trustworthy.

i've been 8 of the last 10 years to KL.

While on F1 people I'd also recommend the Scotsman Kenny from GPAdventures.

http://grandprixadventures.com

While he can do Paddock Club, he specialises in other options like Monaco balconies and yachts as well as balcony suites at the Fairmont in Monaco and Singapore

For Malaysia I've done K1 stand (basically first turn at the end of the main straight with views to turns 1,2,4) 4 out of last 5 yrs. Early bird 50℅off tix run about A$120 for the 3-days, and on Friday you can access anywhere apart from Paddock Club

No great surprises to come out of the two pre season tests. Ferrari are looking to have a fast car under the new regs and Mclaren seem to have fallen further behind, RBR got better and better as each test day passed. All will be revealed in Melbourne in 2 weeks time. Can't wait.

Just checked the long term weather.....Saturday 17 degrees and raining for qual.....Sunday warmer and sunny.

surprisingly was happy to stay at home and watch from the comfort of the lounge in Sydney for the first time in 17 years. funny thing though that the weather was just nice, not too hot and not too cold, which has been our main bugbear the last few years. have been carrying a back injury since january so going this year would've been very difficult with limited mobility. anyone who's attending, enjoy! and don't forget to go to Pete's Bar! bring on 4pm!

F1 Race today was SO exciting I changed over to watch the cricket. Please post if anything changes in race...

HAM may drop to 3rd if BOT catches him. 7 laps to go.
... and/or Verstappen could catch a Ferrari for fourth ... neither of which happened.

Poor strategy from Mercedes help make for a Ferrari win.

Melbourne has rarely been exciting.
Always lots of retirements, not much passing.

Bad strategy calls by Merc gifted the race today.
Think RIC had more passes than anyone today - he passed 19 thru 13, though still a lap down when the car stopped.

Hope he hasn't lost an engine - only four total this year before penalties
