But, don't worry, this thread should be all over within a week (we all hope!). We can get back to the usual divisive business of disagreeing about how great QF are, and how wonderful Neil Perry catering is or isn't

Somewhat ironic that the advert under your post (for me anyway) was a NSW gov promo about how great they are! And coincidentally I gave Qantas their lowest score for cabin service yesterday (a 3) .... which is identical to the scorecard for ScoMo's good old boys cabinet.

CE you may get to notice the new Treasurer is an idiot if that happens. He thinks negative equity in homes will be tolerated by our banks. Tell that to the folks in north west of Western Australia where home values tanked.

Where people thought they could make a lot of money buying houses for ridiculous sums of money and are upset when their values dropped?
I read an article a while back where an estate agent no less was lamenting that her houses she had bought for far too much money in Blackwater QLD had lost value as people were doing FIFO not renting.

I am looking forward to hearing how Clive Palmer has done with his $70 million (estimated) advertising blitz. We are in the US working and Mrscove has an election results feed organized. If he gets between 5 and 10 percent of the votes it will change the political landscape. If he gets about 3% it will be only great for the media companies who have run his adverts.
On the residential property position a number of folks with negative equity will have to increase their repayments or maybe get the bank of mum and dad to pay a chunk off the housing loan.

What I'd be curious to know is what happens if Sportsbet were to make the wrong call - do they get to claw back what they paid to everyone who bet on a Shorten victory? Certainly they'd be obliged to pay out on those who bet on Morrison. Or do they just wear the loss and end up paying everyone because these are 'novelty' markets where they don't really collect much money in terms of total bets anyway?

The alleged rape of a 16 year old 33 years ago is still out there. I guess the Pell case may have given the allegation some wings despite it being such a long time ago. Having a QC now may change things.

Nope they cannot claw back - it was their decision to payout early.

Yes they would be reqd to pay out again if Libs happen to stagger over the line.

And they do hold a reasonable book on all these exotic bets they lay.

FTR: Premature Reperation IMHO - so many unknowns to be played out with the involvement of the Clowns that QLD have inflicted apon us all.

The next two days will be filled with fond memories of Bob.

In contemplation of If this may sway my vote, today the problems are so significantly different to yesterday’s problems. While Lab may well win. And most of the taxing wealth creators initiatives I’m supportive of, having worked in the ATO, IVE Seen the proliferation of tax minimisation, its almost like some of them are still a few years ahead of their time as we remain in that transition period of elderly especially women who never worked after they married or finished up before compulsory super. Punishing self sufficiency isn’t the answer either.

Although I can actually envisage a scenario where a fortress is in place now, but given that it is more difficult under the new ALP rules to change leaders, the power brokers are holding the allegations in their back pocket (or even orchestrated them in the first place) in case they need to bring him down from within. After all if he does win it would break all sorts of protocols if he served out the full term

I always thought it was civil that the Gov didn't throw mud at the time. I'm guessing the LNP are quickly learning they need to match the hatred of the other side. I'm sure they'll do better if they went down to this level.
