And why, double impact....

Not only do you NOT pay out how many billions to build a new CFPS and millions on finding supplies of coal when the old mines run out...

You get to earn extra PROFIT.

Those shares are now worth so much more and now I’m a millionaire

Winner, winner chicken dinner

Yep - AGL is obliged to return the best outcome for their shareholders. End of story.

The failure to deliver the best outcome to the general public is completely owned by the major parties and their two decades of climate wars.

Libs increasing margin (964 currently) in Chisholm.

This is the seat belonging to the previous incumbent Julia Banks (who accused the Libs of cultural and gender bias, bullying and intimidation, and then tried to challenge Greg Hunt (Lib) for the seat of flinders but lost, and who was accused herself of bullying).

Ironic that a female candidate replaced her and is currently ahead.

The race for Chisholm is over according to the AEC site.

Only two left in the undecided bracket.... both favouring LNP.

Macquarie seems the real close one with 50 votes in it at present

Other lineball call will be the Qld Senate, where you have LNP, ON, Greens and Labor fighting for the last 3 seats - all on 0.6 to 0.8 of a quota

The AEC website appears to have been set that any seat with a current TPP margin of more than 0.5% (50.5 to 49.5) is not 'doubtful'.

Note that Cowan, Lilley and Chisholm are all around ±1000 votes.

Could be as simple as the gap exceeds the number of votes yet to count.

I wish the AEC could indicate when all 1st preference votes have been counted without having to manually add up the % for each of the candidate's FP votes.
And also which candidates on the ballot have been excluded from the subsequent preference counts.

Anyway 100% of FP votes for Chisholm have been counted

FWIW, both the Labor and Liberal candidates in Chisholm are female and Asian (Chinese), and were probably preselected to appeal to the high Asian population in the electorate

Yes that would make sense...on one level. Though the Chinese are a little less parochial that is suggested.

I wonder why Macquarie and Banks have not been updated by the AEC and therefore Antony Greene. I understand that the AEC was prioritising the counts in these seats.

78 seats would mean that Zali will be a lonely independent with not a lot of oxygen.

Bass - local ABC led story this morning that Labor may not lose it after all, as the pre-poll votes were going more to them, than expected and the gap was closing. But I think I see the Lib lead now has widened again - updated about 1pm.

I expect there will be a re-count before it is declared.

Ironic also given that the new Liberal MP for Chisholm is the lady who won it for Banks in 2016 by running a Chinese language campaign against the unSafe Schools monstrosity and Banks later criticised her for it.

Anthony Albanese has just shot himself in the foot before he's even become the opposition leader by nominating a fast rail project for the east coast as a priority of Labor's "nation building infrastructure". He must have been on a toilet break when the multiple feasibility studies were released on a MEL - SYD - BNE fast rail project over the past 30 years, and I can recall it coming up for discussion again during the last 12 - 18 months. Every time it has been comprehensively debunked as not even remotely economically feasible because of the distances involved and population densities far below what make such rail lines justified in Europe, Japan etc. Labor just keeps coming up with wacky ideas to throw money at in perpetuity.

still think flights Bankstown to Essendon would work. Virtually no infrastructure costs & free car parking at Bankstown, at least right now.

Flights could take 90 minutes, in up to 50 seater aircraft.

Many don't like going anywhere near Mascot or Tullamarine, esp. if they live anywhere near Parramatta or have to go out that way. Saw an idea, copied from USA(www.surfair.com) where you pay a monthly fee & fly as often as you like & can have up to 4 bookings at once, meaning as soon as you fly one, you can book another flight.

There are several distinct groups of Chinese when it comes to Politics. Those whose families have been in Australia >50 years certainly tend to be conservative. Those whose families arrived after the hand over of Hong Kong again tend to be conservative but many who have arrived post Bob Hawkes decision to let basically unfettered entry after Tiananmen Sqare tend to regard China's Government as the best in the world and vote for the ALP.
If you remember the Bennelong by election there were slanging matches between the 2 opposing Chinese groups.

Of course Albo is going to promote any policy that removes air traffic from Mascot. Once again, as the member for Grayndler you should always back self interest
