Effectively buying out (?handed) Honda’s engine operations arm and setting it up “independent” of RBR so they can supply AT and anyone else who wants to pay.

Finally race weekend...... And it's in Bahrain. At Night. Can't see myself being up at 2am Monday for the race, but certainly looking forward to the highlights.

Key three points of interest for me will be to see how McLaren and Danny Ric (and Lando) go with new engines, how Seb goes at Aston and whether Alonso should've stayed out of F1.

Don't forget Formula 2 is on as well at Sakhir. Two sprint races on Saturday and a feature race on the Sunday now.

Yeah I’m still filthy the times are so poor - the move from 10pm (done by midnight) vs 11pm for the majority of races is psychologically a big difference.

And yeah 2am start for the first race is awful - no way....

Have to try and enforce radio silence and then watch monday night.

Excitement plus! :)
Agreed with your first point for sure plus I'm hoping RBR really takes it to Mercedes from the get-go. If we have a two horse race this year for the whole season it will make it one to remember.

Qualifying

Weird how Mick Schumacher is abbreviated as MSC. Everyone else is the first three letters of their family name (I think)

His father used MSC to differentiate himself from his brother Ralf who he raced against. Mick wanted to carry on that tradition so he requested and was subsequently approved to use MSC instead of SCH.

Gasly will be one to watch

No spoilers, but F2 race 2 is worth a watch....
If you think Gasly is the one to watch, Gasly's teammate Tsunoda was much faster - just a shame didn't get through into Q3 on the mediums

I think F2 race 2 was a reverse grid race

Reality is Gasly is on the mediums and starting 5th with a good car and good pace. Even making up a couple positions will mean Tsunoda has to make up 5 places and probably 15 seconds by lap 2.

F2 race 2 was top 10 reverse grid result of race 1.

No major surprises in qualifying for the year’s 2nd GP at Imola.

Perez’s first front row. Hamilton, Verstappen and Bottas start with mediums.

Well, Sainz missing Q3 and Perez in P2 is a poor and good result, respectively. Norris tried hard, track limits bite again. I think this will be a pretty good race (in terms of strategic moves etc)

Ol mate Sir Lewis would've been rather grateful (debatable) for that!
He was indeed... a rare mistake from him dropped him back considerably. Unfortunately after the red flag they unlapped most cars which then set him up to snatch 2nd. Fastest lap too, so puts him 1 point ahead of VER. Hopefully VER beats HAM in Portugal at the beginning of May and leads the championship for the first time in his career.

Lady luck very much with Lewis.
1. Not hitting the wall
2. Not getting stuck in the gravel (the rain probably helped)
3. Getting unlapped under the restart
