2023 Travel Plans

Locked in dates for our LE package for Khao Lak, I have a zero birthday coming up next year. Thailand with the family will be perfect, we have a two bedroom apartment and they have great kids facilities.
We've managed to nab SQ J awards for this, for all four of us  Overnight in SIN both ways, hopefully I can catch up with a school friend I haven't seen since 2019 when we last passed through.

Also planning Kingscliff for Feb, just need to sort out flights. We used to use our VA free flights but this year with Miss TC on a separate booking, she was rerouted via CBR and we weren't so we can't risk that again. (obviously we changed our flights to travel with her, but its an unnecessary hassle).

We're commencing 2023 in the US - San Antonio before heading to Utah and Colorado for some skiing. We'll end 2023 someone in Europe - exact itinerary still to be determined but plan on attending the Christmas markets in Vienna, also going to London and Iceland looking for the Northern Lights.

No holidays planned currently for in between though we might be able to sneak in a week somewhere in Asia.

I was hoping to finally travel to my 2020 booked destination, the 5 Stans. For one reason or another (Covid!) I haven't been able to make it and was determined to go next year. However, when I contacted the tour organiser, I was told that Turkmenistan is still closed and 2 other Stans (can't remember which 2) are not playing nicely together, so it would be one or the other. This means the trip would really be 3/5 Stans and I don't want to go for that. So unless things improve in the Stans, I have no plans for 2023. :(

Gallipoli for ANZAC day. Booked thru TripADeal. Never booked an all inclusive tour before, so a first for us. Especially with not knowing what airline we’d be flying on. Booked back in May this year, we just received our flight details, SQ, BNE-SIN-IST. Booked in cheap Y fare, so had to pay to select any seats, so stumped up for exit rows.

Agree - don’t miss Turkmenistan.

We've done a couple of LE packages in Khao Lak, it's a lovely spot. We'll no doubt go back again one year...

MrsK and I have locked in our annual "Week Away from Canberra in Winter" week. We picked the LE Taumeasina Island Resort at Samoa, as we haven't been to Samoa before. Locked in return Qantas Bus Class seats to Auckland and back on points - first time on a 787. Overnight in Auckland, and then AirNZ to get to Samoa and back. And then overnight again in Auckland before heading home the next day. The only downside, is I will have dropped off Plat back to Gold, so we won't be able to use the 1st Class Lounge in Sydney - or more to the point, MrsK won't be able to experience the lounge.

We have a trip in March to Rutherglen, for the Tastes of Rutherglen festival. Now to plan something for later in the year

Finally biting the bullet and realising my 30 year dream of Iceland. May 2023, not booked yet and missed a good SQ deal last week but I'll get there. Short visits to SIN and CPH as well, breaking up the trip. Visiting friends in Singapore and will be nice to revisit Copenhagen after all these years. But Iceland is the goal. And now there seems to be a TV show on about Iceland every few weeks.

Iceland is amazing. I'm sure you'll love it.

Please allow plenty of time in Iceland. There’s so much to see and do!

May/June we are off to Tunisia, France, Portugal, Bahrain. Secured Singapore airlines J reward from ADL-SIN-LHR, QF J reward with BA OPO-LHR-BAH and Velocity J reward with Etihad AUH-MEL-ADL.

Booked a week in Fiji for September. Haven’t been and wasn’t on the Agenda, however I noticed Agoda was selling the king premium beachfront Bure at the Hilton Double tree for $110 a night with free cancellation and breakfast.
These rooms are usually 500-600 a night, and have now returned back to that price. So far Agoda hasn’t cancelled and my booking is still confirmed. Flights over booked with QF J reward Adl-Mel-Syd-Nan with QF and FJ. Awaiting to book the flights home.

Just returned from 13 days in Iceland....it was fantastic; assuming you are driving the ring road...we did it in 10 days after spending 3 days in Reykjavik and doing the Golden Circle.I suggest 14 days for Ring Road so you can have some rest days as Iceland is a big country with lots of driving. We did 3300km in 13 days. Book accommodation asap as places book out!! Also book car early...
