Direct swap with LAW?
Wouldn't be surprised if it's either LAW for TSU in that 2nd RBR next year (more likely LAW, but I would feel for TSU in that scenario). As for putting PER in the VCARB? Hmm.... can't help but think that they'll be more inclined to give Isack Hadjar a go. The dark horse option would be Franco Colapinto. Bottom line, I think PER has run out of time and that Red Bull are rapidly running out of patience.

I agree if PER isnt in the RBR he wont be in the VCARB

Helmut Marco has confirmed that VER will take a 5 place grid penalty at Interlagos for an new engine.

I wonder if Helmut can advise how many in-race penalties Max will take :)

Makes sense to take it at Interlagos - plenty of passing opportunities and it's also being reported that race day is forecast to have a 65% chance of rain.
 
Oliver Bearman is replacing Magnusson for the Brazilian race(s).
The Dane has pulled out due to illness. BEA starts from 10th position for the sprint race, two places above HUL.

Infuriating sprint race, my god does LAN whinge. However, what annoyed me the most is that it was clear either a VSC or SC was going to be needed; they were very late to put out the VSC (and should have done done as McLaren still hadn't swapped) and then same again to let the racing get going again..... once it was going again, LAN and PIA probably wouldn't have had enough time to swap anyway; however, as the VSC was late they got to swap anyway. BUT! Not allowing it to go back to racing, meant VER didn't have enough time to overtake PIA and he would have got him I reckon. C'est la vie.

And...... qualy for the race, postponed.
 
The FIA has rescheduled Qualifying and the race itself in an attempt to minimise the rain issue.

“With the session unable to take place on Saturday, it has now been confirmed that qualifying will take place at the new time of 0730 local time, with the Sao Paulo Grand Prix itself brought forwards to 1230 local time.

An FIA and Formula 1 statement said: "Following the conditions in São Paulo today the decision was taken not to proceed with Qualifying due to poor visibility, standing water on the track and fading light.”

My calculation makes that 9.30 pm Tonight and 2 am Monday AEST.

I don't know why they persist with Sprint races and especially in Brazil with its very chancey/dicey weather it seems like they are trying to fit too much in an F1 weekend, I know there are good overtaking opportunities on-track in Brazil and the drivers love the track, that why the FIA probably want to have Sprint races there, but if they are going to prevent wet races, then something like this could happen with a truncated weekend or even worse a failure to race at all so I guess bringing forward the race start time is the best solution to that. If someone has problems or damage in Quali then its an impossibly short window for repairs to be able to race.....

At least the quali is a nice Sunday night view AEDST
 
Oh, and I wasn't the only one querying VSC ....... a lot of other people have been too, asking why it took 17 seconds when he was already out of the car.

I just went back to take a look at what happened re: activating the VSC (both in terms of the coverage + the live timing and driver tracker)? The way I saw it play out was -:

Lap 21
HUL encounters issues and begins to pull off track. PIA and the lead pack are still in Sector 1, with only a handful of back markers yet to arrive on the scene of HUL's demise. TSU has just gone past and BOT is soon to also drive past.

Yellow flags come out just as PIA enters Sector 2 and shortly before ZHO, ALO and STR arrive on the scene.

Just as PIA and co are nearing the scene, the double yellows come out.

Lap 22
Double yellows persist as the rest of the field files past. HUL is still in the coughpit at this time. Crucially, PIA allows NOR by at Turn 4, fearing an imminent VSC/SC.

Footage on the Global Feed shows HUL jumping out of the car and moving away just as NOR is arriving on the scene. HUL's car is clearly off to the side of the track, but importantly, no track marshals appear to be on circuit at this time.

VSC is deployed just before NOR arrives on the main straight and also just before a host of back markers arrive at the location of HUL's car.

On the highlights package shown at the end of Sky's post-race coverage of the Sprint, there's footage of HUL assisting track marshals to move his car behind the barrier. Based on this, I would surmise that if the car remained in its position (assuming it was in a "safe" location), then S2 would have remained yellow - with double yellows being waved at the location of the stricken Haas - until the conclusion of the sprint race. However, the combination of HUL + track marshals on circuit working to move the car gave race control no option but to throw the VSC.
