2024 F1 Thread

Any chance you have a trip report in the works? I am contemplating a visit for the grand prix next year and would love to hear about your experience.
I recommended it to @JessicaTam in the first instance, from what I recall! Mrs FB and I went last year and enjoyed it, albeit it was early October and it was HOT, even at night. There's a lot of walking to do, but I guess that's common at a lot of F1 GP's........ the setup is pretty good, there's lots to do, activities, entertainment etc. behind the main stands, so you can easily make a day of it if you don't want to sit in your seat all day.

We had tickets for the T2 Grandstand. Note, that unless it's changed since 2023, there's no allocated seating there so it's first in best dressed. We never arrived super early though and still got good seats on each day. I really liked this stand as it had a great view of corner 1 and 2, where all the action was.
Did you purchase tickets here or in AbuD
Will let JT reply, but it was for Qatar (Doha) rather than UAE (Abu Dhabi).

Pleased that Maclaren won constructors but VER was so dirty in that opening lap taking out PIA… anyone note that during his victory speech there was NO mention of PIA by Lando- poor form

Yaeh - the thing that stood out to me in the post-chequered flag warm-down lap was Norris saying that next year will be his year with the obvious celebrations of McLaren winning the constructors.

If the McLaren is as good next year, as it was this year, I have a suspicion that next year might be Oscar's year, based on skill and maturity driving (albeit Piastri had a difficult last race but has clearly going to be the better driver in the future).

Of course with a new season there will be new cars, so difficult to predict which teams get faster and which ones get it wrong.

I hope Oscar beats Lando soundly. It was such poor sportsmanship to not mention Oscar when they won Constructers. Nobody likes sour Papaya

The SKY team was concentrating on the pommy heroes HAM and NOR for sure.
Though they made out HAM was retiring forever not just changing teams.
To be fair it was their day, only Ted seemed concerned about BOT and the others leaving.

Nineteen drivers all said "Next Year"....
NOR has a better chance of doing it but.

It’s Sky UK providing the broadcast so not surprising that they focus more on their home drivers.
We (and other countries) are simply using their feed because of $.

Pre-sale tickets to MEL F1 FP for AMEX cardholders from Tuesday 17th December 2pm AEDT.

And..... Ferrari to support GM/Cadillac with power units and gearboxes, if they do make it in as the 11th team.

There is discomfort amongst the existing teams that the new Cadillac entrant does not have to abide by the spending cap or wind tunnel time that the existing teams are bound by.
I wonder if the FIA will introduce some kind of budget cap for new teams too ?

Yes I did. But only because a FA went looking for them. They were offered on flights out of DOH up to the day of the race. I got a pair as they had a pair left over on my MEL-DOH flight. By our return flight home on Monday they were no longer being offered. 😥
