2025 travel plans

A number of we AFFers have used a driver and Tour person ‘Lucky’ with good results. Can also suggest good accommodations etc.

Not sure if he is still in business, but if it’s of interest I’d search Lucky and Sri Lanka here and see what the most recent hit is.
Most recent post I found:
Post in thread 'Sri Lanka 2023-Back in Lucky's Country' Sri Lanka 2023-Back in Lucky's Country

2025 plans
- March: Sydney for work
- April: cairns for a week over Easter
- September : Taiwan, HK and Japan for 3 weeks holiday with the family and flying J with CI, JAL and Qantas

This one slipped me by...... current bookings for 2025 are:
  • Jan - finishing off Christmas in Lake Tahoe trip and arriving in Spain (was cheaper to end there) on NYE, then off on a road trip for a few days
  • Jan - Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay (IYKYK)
  • Feb/Mar - Perth (and the far surrounds)
  • April - Georgia
  • May/Jun - Sri Lanka
  • August - Greenland (expedition cruise)
Plans to be nutted out still for Georgia and Sri Lanka, thinking of maybe hiring a car in Sri Lanka and road tripping but need to see how viable that is.
You certainly can drive yourself around Sri Lanka (many hire a tuk tuk) but it wouldn't be my choice of travel. Lucky is still operating and is an excellent driver, guide & converationalist. You don't have to lock yourself into hiring him for your total holiday eg have tour & get get dropped at a beach location & make your own way back to Colombo (very easy to organise a casual driver). Happy to put you in contact with him if you want his details.

Jan: Crash Mr Katie's annual boy's trip in ADL, but only for the weekend
Mar: W/end with Mr Katie in AL for AFF dinner
May: Usually have a conference in the US, but not sure it'll be held next year
July/August: Europe, going on a 7 day Rhine cruise with my Mum from AMS to Basel. Knitting theme. Yet to arrange everything other than the cruise. Probably a couple of days in Essen after the cruise.
Oct: expect a trip to the US or maybe Germany in Nov for a conference

At some point a nice trip with Mr Katie to celebrate 25 years of being hitched.

Taking the twins to the Twin Towers?

Jan: all Asia - doing Korea and Japan till mid-Jan with one group of mates, then Vietnam, Cambodia (briefly) and Thailand with different mates.

Feb: US and Canada - Banff for a week to ski is the major part, then off to Austria and Switzerland also to ski (happy for any recommendations in Switzerland - am going to Innsbruck already, but want to do some more in Switzerland proper).

Late July-Early September - Europe again, but might try and fit in Oman or something around Georgia/Azerbaijan. Not locked in there.

Much calmer year re. travel in 2025, for better or for worse.

Is your SIN-MEL flight with SQ?

Our trips have been family focussed since Covid, with an occasional side venture. Planning for UK in May/June 2025, 5 weeks, with a family get away to the South Coast for a week in there somewhere. Much of the rest of the time in and around London with the usual side-trip to catch up with family in Manchester.

Love reading about everyone's plans :)

Our biggest trip is 6 weeks to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary starting end of January.

Thanks to my stash of VFF and QFF flying mostly J except for the two legs home in F.
