2025 travel plans

The metro is super easy and cheap to get around, too. I've stayed all over the city and can't say whether I enjoyed one more than the other to be honest.

I once booked (but only Mrs FB stayed as I had to leave early after the Spanish F1 GP to get back to London for a last minute meeting.....) Fernando, which was a really good location according to Mrs FB in the downtown area. Funky rooms too.
Calle Ferran 31, Barcelona, 08002, ES

Thanks Ron. That is very helpful. What areas would you recommend to stay. I have a few IHG points but not wedded to any hotel scheme in particular.
We also found taxis were cheap - didn't try Uber.
Stayed in Eixample, Hotel Catalonia Eixample 1864 and also on Ave Para-lell at Hotel Barcelona Universal, both easy walking distance to various points of interest - not Montjuic or Park Guell though, took the bus. Chose these hotels mostly for their rooftop pools as we were visiting in June-August @jumpjam

This doesn't count as a plan yet, more of an early daydream. But we'll see.

Kinda hoping to head to Hiroshima in September/October to see the city's new football stadium. Revisit the Atomic Peace Park and generally just explore a bit. Take the daughter as well if she's keen.

Maybe do a couple days in Osaka since that's the easiest entry point coming from Perth, and a short journey on the train. Dotonbori, the aquarium etc.

The stadium is impressive. And the local fans are tops. When I was their an older Australian couple were in front of me heading back towards our shuttle bus. The fellow was very unsteady on his feet. 3 young Hiroshima fans came running to his aid. Got him up and walked either side of him whilst the third was comforting the woman. They took them to the shuttle bus stop. They stayed with them until they were on the bus.
The Stadium is just over the road from Hiroshima Castle. Not too far is Shukkien Gardens which is well worth a visit. was totally destroyed by the bomb so remarkable to see it now.
The stadium is not far from Peace Park so very easy to walk that whole area.

Timed right (until 13th October), in Osaka you could catch Expo 2025.

Slowly piecing things together and a couple of seperate holidays have now been merged into one bigger one of about 7 weeks from June to August.
Already have J awards on SQ from ADL booked to KUL and will then head to the ME for about 8 days, aiming for a self drive trip in Saudi Arabia if all goes well. If not we have other ME options to fall back on. Then on to London for a couple of days to see rellies before heading to the Caribbean. Have a mate in the Australian cricket side and going to watch him in the second test at Grenada and the third test in Jamaica and spend about another week sightseeing. Then up to the US for our first proper visit and will catch up with a friend in Connecticut and spend a few days with them. Have just booked a 10 day Alaskan cruise with Cunard so will head over to Seattle for that and then finish up with about 10 days on the US West coast. Managed to snare J seats on UA from SFO back to BNE.

I’m travelling in their hottest part of the year which is causing some debate. I’ve driven around Saudi Arabia before and have visited other times aswell and the heat can be insane. I have backup plans which consist of resorts at various locations in the ME and might just be better to laze around the pool.

Salalah in Oman is a nice option.

I found a very good deal for new years in palm cove today, so that's now on the agenda. I know it's not the best time to go but the kids will enjoy the pools and it was too good to pass up.
Now locked in as VA had flights decently priced.

Booked for the rest of the year

February Melbourne
March Auckland
March Los Angeles/Las Vegas
April Chatham Islands NZ
May Napier NZ
May Hong Kong
May Adelaide OzFest
June Jakarta/Bandung
July Chengdu/Shanghai
July Queenstown NZ
September London/Austria
November Melbourne AFF Do
November Singapore/Bangkok/Taipei
December Sydney hopefully PJ/Grange

We are booked on Etihad for May/June travelling Singapore/Frankfurt and then Paris/ Singapore. Over the last 3 weeks we have time changes on 3 of the 4 legs. Only about 10 - 20 minutes each but I have had to 'Manage my Booking' to accept the changes. Luckily after the first one it is now easy to do.

Planning to do something similar but addendum to the end of a Korea trip; arrive in cough and move up northwest.

I'm looking forward to a week on Kangaroo Island in February, 3 weeks visiting Azerbaijan, Georgia and Albania, then straight on to 10 days in Eastern Turkey, in Sep/ Oct.
I've now added a 12-day expedition cruise in Greenland, 'Greenland Explorer - From Iceland to Greenland' with Albatros Expeditions.
I blame @RooFlyer and @Flashback for this one (thanks for the inspiration and information!!)
